Dani and I grew up just miles apart on small farms outside of Cortland going to family gatherings as little kids as we are second cousins having the same great grandparents. Both going to UNL. The news made me break down... so happy for her and her growing family. This is a dream come true for so many. Regardless of the results... we have another 25 year coach that will grow the program to even greater heights.

In season tournament for Big10 You can reduce 2-3 out season games and have that start after oct 1st Then you have regular season games that count towards a tournament game just like the NBA does their in season tournament Or do a final Four Big 10 tournament at end of season

Players like Merritt and Harper have both talked about finding support and unconditional love on this team. I think John learned to set that example and the team learned it from him.

I know almost everyone’s name and where they are from on the Nebraska Volleyball roster…I barely know outside the top 3 or 4 players on the men’s basketball and the football if we get to 2string I have no idea

There was never a discussion of someone being considered along with DBK. It has always been if DBK isn't considered, then who would be... I can't imagine that the window to get DBK wasn't closing every year she was building on her success at Louisville. It had to play into John's timeline, for the who else becomes a foggy consideration as there isn't someone of the same level as DBK that isn't already successful in their own dynasty at their current program...Elliot would never be considered for the fact he is Texas. Sheffield is doing well in Wisconsin, and Skinner at Kentucky is doing well in his own dynasty. The list would have been Kirsten Bernthal Booth, Mary Wise, Tamas, and then the current staff. It can't be understated the size of the program and the job leading it is, as there just aren't many comparable to measure qualification.

John Cook retiring now will result in the demise of Nebraska volleyball, just like When Osborne retired without thinking about the timing of his retirement. Nebraska did not have to fall as far as it did in football. You don't just walk away without helping out the new staff to make it smooth transition and keep them winning because you will end up losers like the football program is now, and they are having a heck of a hard time getting back up to speed. I don't think it will happen in the Big Ten. The Big Ten hates Nebraska for all the times NU handed the Big Ten teams their asses when NU played them. It's why the Big Ten refs throw that flag at just the right time to help NU's opponent win, like the Illini game when they took that TD away from NU. Once you cross the goal line with the football it's a touchdown and the play is over. But that's just one example of NU getting screwed by Big Ten refs. The only teams the Big Ten promotes is Michigan and Ohio St.

Its extremely hard to follow a legend.. NU is a huge pressure cooker.. the staff staying and sounds like the team is staying will definitely help.. DBK can do it.
