I've used the Northern Sled Works skimmers, but I really love these ones from a local guy here in the Yukon: www.yukonsleds.com/ You will see them on my more recent bison hunts. They are AAA.

How you haven’t got tracks for the Argo they work well
@GregMcHalesWildYukon Жыл бұрын
Haha you're not the first to suggest that!

I’m sure someone asked. But I’ve watch a few of your last season hunts and my question is why don’t you have tracks for it yet ?

Put tracks on there could make a hell of a difference…

Tracks on the ARGO would have been worth every penny !!!!

Where are your tracks on that argo. They could have saved you from a day and half pushing that machine and bringing in other equipment.
@GregMcHalesWildYukon Жыл бұрын
Oh it would have saved more than that!

Why aren't you running tracks on that argo? Otherwise, you might need a rotary wing on your vehicle.
@GregMcHalesWildYukon Жыл бұрын
I don't have tracks for those machines. Snow machines can't be beat, if you can get them to the snow line!

@GregMcHalesWildYukon to bad about the argo. Having trax for that should make it a beast. I hope a sponsor of yours can change that for you...

Snow machines to moose area, then maybe mark and clear a grass runway? Do you have a plane with pontoons? Can you Dame up or block a drainage? To have water to take off or land on? Likewise, with skis on the plane in winter, after; your friend goes into groom a landing area with a snow machine? " Satgent, I want new landing zone!" "Just there, so get the cordite line & blow those trees down !"

We considered landing the Super Cub on skis, but the lake was newly frozen and I didn't want things to get TOO epic. There was a lake nearby, but "nearby" isn't good enough when you are going to pack a moose out!

Alaska Bush tracks..

Cross country skiing or rounded snow shoes? Oh, I know how to do it. First, do a plane drop of equipment required, including a Fulton surface recovery system with a sky hook & harness for the moose meat. After that, it's simple ( eg. Get yourself a couple of paragliders) & Bob's your uncle!
@GregMcHalesWildYukon Жыл бұрын
It would be that easy!
@Hunting_Grt_whiteNorth Жыл бұрын
Also, maybe consider a hot air balloon moose meat drop. It might be cheaper than scheduling a c130 Hercules skyhook pick-up. 😅 That might serve a second purpose to tenderize it, too....
@GregMcHalesWildYukon Жыл бұрын
We considered quite a few different approaches to this hunt. I think we hit the sweet spot with the equipment we had. C-130/parachuting would have been next level!
@Hunting_Grt_whiteNorth Жыл бұрын
@GregMcHalesWildYukon That would be a first, I think. You could call it a goat mountain insurgency, ⛰️ definitely would be a novel way in!
