These singers are not monks, but trained singers, some of whom are choir singers. Two of the group are females, including the member who puts the particular arrangements together for the group.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful renditions of this song that I have ever heard. Those in the choir are all wonderfully talented and were a joy to listen to. I don't know if anyone else felt the same way, but the setting seemed to give the song a whole new meaning that brought me near tears.

A timeless song that resonates with every generation and will continue to resonate with every generation far into the future, until humanity fades. Why? Because it speaks to loneliness, isolation, and that deep desire to just scream out to someone. But you can't because no one is there and no one is listening.

Disturbed version is the bench mark for this song. I remember the emotions I felt when I heard his version for the very first time. David Draiman ( Disturbed frontman) is actually a trained cantor ( Jewish vocal leader who leads the congregation into prayer) has gone through some classical training. His rendition brings new meaning to this song. Even the composer Paul Simon labelled that version as the very best.

I said, "and there is always someone unable to cope with a different point of view. In this case, that someone is you. I am entitled to hear and see as I do. And my observation is entirely accurate. I have been a devoted listener to Gregorian chant for nearly 30 yrs. It is ALWAYS acapella. there is NEVER any accompanying musical instrumentation, as it stems from before even the middle ages, when the monks sang in holy mass. I had thought that, since this claimed to be Gregorian, it would do the same, but it didn't. It is, therefor NOT Gregorian but has a Gregorian like style. Not sure, even today, man can build anything to equal or compare. And even if I am considered a non-believe in religions, I am a true believer in man's ability to build beautiful buildings.

Those ain't monks. They ain't Gregorian. Gregorian's would never wear robes of such velvet finery or color. Red is reserved for Cardinals and Inquisitors. Purple was reserved for royalty. Stop trying to pass off the latest version of River Dance as authentic monks. It is insulting to actual monks to be compared to this boy cosplay band put together by some producer looking for a buck and recognition off the gullible. Wonder how much they paid the cathedral to film there?

Dannion Brinkley had 2 near death experiences where he was gone for a long time (lightning struck his home when he was on a very old land line...damaged him seriously, leading to a 2d). He went to something that could be described as a crystal cathedral tho no one preaching (my mom went to a large empty room with huge crystal chandeliers, so maybe crystal is a thing?). There were angels (different from the spirit guides helping people) who did not speak but sang notes like instruments. He said this was/were the most beautiful sounds he had ever heard. Melodies but not words, just the purest sounds. Many people say there was beautiful music like they never heard before. Might explain it.
