William Wyler was a great cinematographer, he sure knew how to make fantastic movies. His use of extensive wide and long shots for everything from fist fights to landscapes was extraordinary. There are a couple of short YT vids about the making of The Big Country with interviews of the actors - search _Charlton Heston on "The Big Country"_ and _Gregory Peck on "The Big Country"_ . I love this movie. I was in a junior drum and bugle corps which featured the theme from The Big country. We won the Canadian National competition that rear (1969 - I'm old). I got to be older than 21 so had to leave but a couple of years later my corps won the North American Championship - a very big deal - still featuring The Big Country. My corps then played in one of the first half time programs for the Super Bowl. How awesome is that! That drum Corps was The DE La Salle Drum and Bugle Corps from Toronto Canada. I still march down a street with the tune of The Big Country running though my head.

It looks like you had enjoyed western movies, I am glad you mentioned that movie 「シェーン」, the leading actor perfectly presented a heroic manhood, calm, fearless, and caring.

……this film (1958) was directed by William Wyler. He was very impressed with Mr Heston’s portrayal as the ranch manager, that he signed him up for his new production, ‘Ben-Hur’, in the role of ‘Messala’. The various actors’ who did ‘screen tests’ for the title role, weren’t satisfactory, so Wyler re-cast Mr Heston as ‘Judah Ben-Hur’. What an inspired choice! Charlton Heston won ‘Best Actor’ at the 1960 Academy Awards’, for his portrayal.
