First time I saw him on TV in concert and within 2 minutes I fell in love , recorded it and someone deleted it.A colleague reintroduced me to his music and I never looked back. Gifted and humble musician.

I’m a professional Vocalist as well. And, I always look out for other artists who present their artistry in unique, yet connecting ways! However, in recent years I stopped, because the talent of many lacked luster. Gregory Porter is such a master at his craft, but he does it so effortlessly! I can usually tell if the musician will strike a chord with me in the first 2 minutes of their music! He got to me in 30 seconds! I am in Love with his lyrics, his sound, & his soul as well as his musicianship! Phenomenal! I’m in Love with listening to other artists again! And, , I can listen to Porter all day-every day. Thank you, Mr. Porter! 🙏🏽❤️🎶🙋🏽

I just love the way Gregory Porter and his masterful band take a song and soar with it - gently, softly, yet with spirit and intentionally rise. Together, they bring music to life, as in “Painted on Canvas,” “On My Way to Harlem,” “Liquid Spirit,” “Hey Laura,“ “Be Good, ” No Love Dying,” “1960 What?” , “Real Good Hands” and “Free..” There is an amazing magical synergy between Gregory Porter and band that moves listeners to travel with them - enjoying the musical and lyrical journey. Gregory Porter and band know how to bring you with them on every word and note. Thank you for reaching me and others!!! You touch my mind, heart, soul and spirit! Keep on keeping on!

I have never fallen in love so quickly with an artist. Wait...let me say I have never fallen in love with an artist:). I loved Prince and I loved Teena Marie...but there is something different and special about Gregory Porter. I just found out about him a couple of months ago and was able to catch him live at the Fox Theater in Oakland....trust and believe wherever he is performing I will be there. Every time I hear Way Back to Harlem it brings a smile to my face and I just want to jump up and dance like a crazy fool:)....I love love love Gregory Porter...and can't wait to catch him at the Monterey Jazz Festival this weekend. This is what you call real musicians and artistry and I am introducing his music to all of my friends. I need to purchase everyone of his CDs...Bravo...Bravo...Bravo Mr. Porter:) I'm so glad the football thing didn't work out for you because I couldn't imagine life without the sounds of Gregory Porter...now that I've heard it:)

Kenyatta zaprosił Portera do studia nagrań w Los Angeles, w którym nad swoim albumem „Remembers The Unforgettable Nat King Cole” pracował wówczas flecista Hubert Laws. Gdy ten usłyszał Portera śpiewającego sobie podczas nagrania piosenki Charliego Chaplina Smile, zachwycił się młodym artystą i zaprosił go do wzięcia udziału w nagraniu płyty. Debiutancki album Portera „Water” (Motema Music) zdobył Grammy w kategorii „Najlepszy jazzowy album wokalny”. „Be Good” (Motema Music), wydany w 2012 r., zdobył kolejną nagrodę Grammy, tym razem w kategorii „Najlepszy tradycyjny występ R&B”.
