Greg it is price. It has not been released in Australia yet, but if it follows the price of other Apple products it will be almost double in Aussie Dollars. That is $7000! That is almost 4 weeks wages. If you are on our minimum Australian wage, that is almost 8 weeks! So no eating, no rent, no power, no internet connection for 8 weeks! There is no doubt this is a technological marvel. I cannot imagine watching videos on this, or multiple screens. How good is that! I had better start an Apple Vision savings account now.

I’ve got the original XReal glasses and I use them daily vs the Quest 2 headset that mostly eats dust on the shelf. 1080p Sony’s micro OLED displays on the XReal glasses project 130 inches crispy clear virtual display. I’m claustrophobic so I prefer open sunglasses form factor and the 75 grams light weight of the XReal glasses. I would love the AVP to be available in this sunglasses style form factor one day. Love creating apps for the AVP though. I created an app for it using the AVP simulator in the XCode. Very pleased with the app development experience.

Most of the critique here boils down to the price… which will come down, but not soon enough for people. Most people are butt-hurt that $3500 is way out of their “fun stuff” budget. If these were $1499, nobody would be upset, they’d be waiting on their order to arrive.
@peterr48727 ай бұрын
Since the “spaces” are mapped, such as Greg’s Home, Greg’s Office, I could imagine an app that would allow you to invite friends into your home like teleporting there for social or productive purposes. Perhaps that’s where FaceTime is heading to especially once the avatars are full body tracked.

The comfort can also be an issue if the facial gasket wasn't made for the user (i.e. when you share with someone who has a smaller head than you, prob needs a SMALL headstrap, not a medium etc.) - this is prob why most complain about the comfort. It is heavy, but def agree not that heavy where it's unwearable. Also, the dual loop solves a lot of this, but you can also use a 3d printed accessory and 2 default straps to make it EXTREMELY comfortable.

Great review. Can you comment on the possibility of more than one person using it. I have a wife and grandkids that would all love it. My wife and I both wear glasses with markedly different prescriptions, and my grand kids don’t wear glasses. Much easier to justify if multiple persons can use.
@dtz10007 ай бұрын
Why would you want your grandkids using this? It's got no decent games. Quest 3 would be a much better choice for multiple people.
@macdaddy93447 ай бұрын
Maybe create another “user” in the family for the needs they might use it for? You won’t have access to personal emails but that isn’t the case now. F just media consumption, this might work. But won’t allow both you and wife to work on personal projects, email, messages, etc. basically an enhanced “guest mode” for media or games etc.
@johnatkins80127 ай бұрын
The prescription inserts are fixed by magnets so you can quickly swap two sets of inserts. There is one main user but you can have guests use it as well. When a guest uses it, they go through a quick eye and hand tracking set up. That cannot be saved right now but I’d hope that comes with a software update.

While the AVP can do a lot of the things that the meta quest 3 can do as time goes on I think that Apple’s tight Ecosystem will be the differentiator. Meta does not have the ability to dictate what Microsoft does with the OS. Apple does. This means more integration between devices. I see AVP being somewhat like the IPad in the sense that it is great at controlling things on the Mac but now you will be able to control things with devices in the headset. The Mac becomes the brain, it does the heavy lifting while the Vision Pro can be used to speed up using the apps on the mac. One simple example is with any app that has menus of different options. A developer can create controls to execute the menu items and the user can place them anywhere. Instead of diving through menus your eye finds the option you want and execute it.

The original Mac 128K was $2499. That’s more than $5700 in today’s dollars. It was so high priced it almost cost Apple its business. However, in 2024 Apple is worth $3T and can now afford to sell their products at a price that makes them money, even if that price is high. They can now afford to wait it out as technology advances and prices drop. They charged what the cost to make the best possible display with today’s tech. In a few years the price will be $1000 or less. If the Apple Vision Pro, which costs at least $3500 today, was available when the Mac was originally released, it would have cost at least $11,000. Give this product category 10 years. The Vision Pro is a proof of concept and augmented reality will be in the near future, just like graphical interfaces, touch screens, smart phones and smart watches.

@@GregsGadgets thanks for the response. At time index 7:03 you say that the single strap provides the optimal comfort for you. You don't know that until you try the other strap. Another myth is that you have to readjust the straps on the dual loop band. I never readjust the strap I just slip it on my head each time. (I'm bald so that probably helps). Since you have peoples ear as well, can you talk about how you can just press and hold the crown to move windows right in front of you from anywhere? Also if you want different views of an immersive environment, you can activate the immersive environment looking 180 degrees from your content and then look back to have a different view. A wearable technology that is on your forehead (brain) with electronic parts and it beams intense lights to your eyes. These are the two major hurdles to overcome because our eyes and brain is exposed to intense light and heat from the electronic parts. My immense concern is lenght of time using Vision Pro can create health issues with heat and light rays. This is where it is hard for me to believe that this device can replace all computers including our phones. Right now it is excellent for playing games and watching movies but with some alterations and refinement it can be useful for other things in the future.

Definitely not smart to buy a v1 apple product...I've proved that several times before. However, it AVP, I get a superior way to watch movies and as someone whose has spent lots of money on TVs. AV receivers, and speakers+subs, all for that to be tied to a single location, the thought of having a great mobile theater just blows my mind. I'm someone who can take a break during a movie, too, so the notion of sitting through an entire movie is a non-issue. Also, I'm single and live alone, so I don't mine watching alone (and I have my traditional HT for company anyway). So, i'm going forth with this purchase because for me, v1 of AVP offers a lot of value for just $4000+.

3D movies on this thing are incredible, you’re in for a treat! Besides that, the ability to multitask with floating windows is incredible too, so if you’re buying it for the movies alone, you’ll get your personal movie theater and a whole lot more! The productivity side is phenomenal and may really grow on you as well!

@@ThomasLeichardt Yes, I dig the productivity side too, but a portable HT is what really turns me on. But I plan to have windows all over my house when I get mine. I won’t need an iPad ever again, son the AVP has justified itself even at v1.0!!

I’m right with you for a different reason. I’m an over the road driver and live mostly alone in an 8x8 box. This AVP can be my 80” TV, surround sound system, my 36” Monitor, and a simple way to escape my 8x8 box into an immersive environment. And, as you mention, totally mobile when visiting friends and family. I’ll keep my iPhone, iPad, MBP, but this could be huge for me in my Truck.

Can you review how good Vision Pro is for porn viewing, how immersive it is, how private it can be in the crowd, and how hand gestures affect the…….

I have the Vision Pro and one thing people are not talking about is that the native apps do not have a lot of the functionality that’s on other Apple products for instance, the Photos app you cannot edit photo and you cannot rotate a photo which is something you can do on every other Apple product Those things will update overtime but they are also things that I miss when I’m using it. But I love it and would never take it back!

Honestly, for what the Vision Pro can do and the amount of tech in it, $4k isn't a bad price. Especially considering headsets like Microsoft Hololens 2 starts off at the same price and offers little or the Varjo XR-3 starts at yearly sub of $6k.

I think the shape of one’s head makes a big difference in the level of comfort one has with the Apple Vision Pro. I’ve noticed that those that complain the most about comfort are people with longer, narrow faces/heads. People with a broader head shape seem to wear it most comfortably.
@EXPERTISE7 ай бұрын
I have a longer narrow head and I find the comfort ok with the solo knit band. It's fine for a few hours but still needs to lose some weight in the future. But 100% more based on your overall head and face and having the right seal and headband. I literally spent two hours going back and forth between two sized light seals. I mean shit they're $200 for extras you wanna get the right one, and I saw so many people NOT do this because they "didn't wanna open the box at apple" which I totally get, but Apple seals these in the back room with your sizes, and the ones you try on anyway are the demo ones. 🤷♂

Great video. The AVP’s “look” is surprisingly…normal. Between snowboarding and skiers in their goggles to FARMERS in their huge, colorful, mirrored sunglasses to block out harmful rays, the AVP’s mirrored front wouldn’t get a second glance, especially in a hoodie. You are so right about regular people are curious. What really disappointed me from regular tech reviewers were the lies of omission. Again, many AR/VR experts and enthusiasts (not gamers) who pointed out the AVP was roughly the same weight and sometimes LESS, are pointing out now the strap that comes with the Quest is cheap and unwearable and it’s 3RD PARTY STRAPS USED ON THE QUEST! Seriously? Not one of our normal tech guys had the decency to say Apple has the most comfortable strap out of the box?
