In this tutorial learn how to cut and style fine hair into a classic business style haircut. Find out how to use the barbering technique scissor over comb to control and graduate shorter hair around the perimeter of the cut to longer hair on top. The key to style fine hair into a full look is to leave the air at just the right length. Not too short but not too long in order to avoid separation and the hair looking too thin. I went to Barber school and was taught by the other students to "cut by the numbers". This is very refreshing. I have been working with my boss for the past few years and he taught me how to cut hair in this fashion, albeit with Andis and the same Clippermate comb you use, rather than the shears. It has been a lifesaver, and this video is truly wonderful. it points out small things that separate a good barber from a great barber. Thank you for making this available. Fine hair is tricky! I learn something new every day in this profession.

Oh, this takes me back to sitting in my grandfather's barbershop in Conway NC and watching him and my uncle cut hair. There is more to barbering than meets the eye and I am glad to see the art having a resurgence.

I started out with this basic cut 4 weeks ago when I had my hair cut into low fade cut. Last week I went back and got my hair cut into mid fade,, and for me it was a great decision. I had been growing my hair for years and it had gotten quite long. Very curly wavy too many tangles and knots. Fade cut rules!

Hi Mr Greg Zorian, thank you for your youtube channel regarding Barbering. I appreciate your time and experience. This question regards this particular haircut. My Barber school has a Honzo shears representative that sells shears from $200 - $1000. We are starting out our career with a viper set of shears; both a 6' and a chunker/ thinner. Is it worth it to spend an average of $500 for another pair of shears? Thank you again.

You're Welcome. I am glad you like it. Generally I do not like to spend more than $300 for shears. My favorite brand I have been using for over 20 years is Sensei Shears. I like to buy the longer shears from the grooming line. In my opinion best value for money.

Does the width of the comb determine the length of the hair since you are cutting at the bottom of the comb?

It depends on the angle of the comb. The farther I angle the teeth in the farther away the base of the comb is leaving hair longer.
