One thing to note is Kenny goaded Gremmy into a 'fight' on the basis that they were both the strongest, so this thought already put gremmy in the mindset of entering into a battle rather than a squash match. Kenny was essentially playing mind games with him the whole time, questioning more his strength than his power and baiting him into a fight.

Yhwach didn’t have the Sternritter schrifts. He only inscribed their schrift letters into their soul and their abilities manifested in relation to the letter of their soul. Think of the schrift letters as the asauchi that Nimaya makes for soul reapers, the soul reapers keep the asauchi on them at all times so that their soul manifests a Zanpakuto spirit into the empty sword and the powers of their Zanpakuto are based off their own soul. Bazz B for example was given the letter H. Him being a hothead with a quick temper is the base of “The Heat.” His personality and soul itself combined with his letter H is what manifests his “The Heat” powers. When the Quincies souls return to Yhwach upon death he doesn’t necessarily absorb their developed abilities, he takes back what was given to them alongside their experiences/memories/feelings and absorbs their spiritual pressure.

If there's one battle in TYBW that deserves to last for two episodes it's definitely gonna be this one. They put like 8 chapters in one single episode (when other episodes in cour 2 include 4-5 chapters) and in result they cut some important stuff like Gremmy backstory (which wasn't rich in manga either but at least you would know that he was locked up in the basement for his entire life) or meteor scene where they cut all reactions from other captains and sternritters (even Haschwalth was concerned about it which shows how dangerous Gremmy truly was)

if you can remember on episode 7 the sternritter that got bodied by ichigo when he first came out was a product of Gremmy's imagination. So Gremmy is able to create life powerful enough to become it's only letter for a sternritter. He was also isloated his whole life so he never got an understanding of his power so he probably didn't even know how to use vollstandig and the fight did seem more impactful in the manga. The sterritters were all freaking out and some other things I would recommend reading those couple of pages.

At this point in time, the powers that are conceptual, more than physical. Zaraki’s ability is cutting. He is the edge of his own sword. That sword shouldn’t be able to cut shit, but he somehow does. He cut things way larger than what would be able to cut. His power is not physical, more conceptual. He cuts things. He cuts flesh, steel, abilities and even imagination. As Kenny himself said, THERE’S NOTHING HE CAN’T CUT THROUGH. More crazy to think that Ichigo is a whole tier above him, and Byakuya, Mayuri and Toshiro are the same tier as Kenny.

Grammy is "the strongest". Think of it as he has Death Note. He can kill anyone instantly by imagining heart attack or cookie bones or whatever. There's already a lot of people here with great explanations on things, but just to clarify one more. Yhwach doesn't get the abilities of the Quincies when they die, only their "power" as a way to boost his own power. The schrifts that Quincy's have a latent abilities that Yhwach are able to bring out by making them drink his blood, but they aren't his own abilities. What is the actual scary part of Yhwach's ability is that he gives just a small part of his own power to a Quincy to power them up, but then everything they have trained and done to improve themselves he will reap the benefits of when they die and he takes the power back. That's how he continuesly becomes stronger and stronger (plus a lot of other shit that is spoilers).

Sternritters that survive Auswahlen can also still use their schrifts suggesting Yhwach didn't take them. He does take the ability to Vollstandig as that is not a personalised ability.

The fight was over once kenpachi got into gremmys head that to be the strongest you should want to defeat the strongest. He imagined it, which is that little moment he has prior too him pulling out the blickys.

As we see in the episode, the Visionary is a double-edged sword in that Gremmy can manifest things accidentally if he is not careful. So it's not that he has to focus on his imagination for things to remain real, but that he can accidentally undo things he imagined in a moment of distraction. So Yachiru's bones came back to normal because the stress made him forget that he turned them to cookies, and he reimagined them back to normal. And by "double imagination," he means that he created a 2nd Visionary ability in the next Gremmy that would make sure to keep the meteor solid in his mind while the other focused on making their bodies indestructible.

The manga covers Gremmy’s backstory more during this fight than the anime. The Sternritter feared him so Yhwach locked him away most of his life, so that’s why he didn’t have the most developed imagination even tho he had the power of The Visionary. As for why he lost, he literally just couldn’t comprehend being strong enough to hold Kenpachi’s power. So when at the end he attempted to imagine himself having strength greater than Kenpachi he literally ripped himself apart and he didn’t have the power left to imagine himself surviving. It seems to me like there’s a limit to how much power he can grant himself, so he just imagined himself being stronger than he could survive wielding.

He simply carve letters on the souls of Quincys, jumpstarting any latent powers they have in their soul. So he doesn't have "V" The Visionary in his fight with Yama. • Things that Visionary spawns are permanent unless he removes them, its the "states" that he needs to keep focusing in order to stay happening. He needs to keep the state of Yachiru's bones being cookies, if he lose focus it returns to its normal state. For example, Gremmy spawns a bucket of blood = permanent, Gremmy saw a bucket of water and change the water into blood = temporary.

Gremmy spent his entire life locked up, with Litotto being the only one who ever truly interacted with him. It's worth noting that almost everything Gremmy used was an aspect or variation of another Sternritter: the steel from Cang Du, guns and missiles from Bg9, cookies from Litotto, flames/lava from bazz-b and so on. Sadly a few moments from the Manga were cut for pacing's sake. Also, note that Gremmy wanted to properly fight kenpachi, as he himself said, he wanted to crush kenpachi with his own strength, a pure contest of power, one without tricks. As for Yhwach, he doesn't own any of the sternritter's schrifts, as previously mentioned, a Schrift is created when yhwach shares a part of his soul with someone and engraves a letter into the missing part of a quincy's soul, the power that returns to him upon a sternritter's death refers to their reiryoku(spiritual energy/spiritual power) and their reiatsu (spiritual pressure) you get the idea. The reason why gremmy didn't just imagine kenpachi dead is because Gremmy still sees him as a monster who is stronger than him, and as long as he thinks that, then that's the reality of the situation. Gremmy also doesn't have the experience or knowledge of the world to be able to do much with his abilities as Yhwach locked him up in fear of his powers. He most likely learned most of what he knows from Liltotto who would visit him and have him make sweets for her to eat.

Fun fact - it's actually confirmed that Gremmy literally create a pocket of space that contained -actual galaxies- and Kenny wasn't put off by that at all. Now that's power. Gremmy is a bit of a mystery, there are a lot of theories but as far as I know none of them are confirmed. More info about Gremmy is revealed in the novels and in the mid-episode info card in this episode, which for some reason they chose not to translate despite most of them actually containing important additional info. Mid-episode card reveals that Gremmy was locked up his whole life within a barrier created specifically by Yhwach. His shrift was given to him by Yhwach, those abilities are not innate. More info about Yhwach and shrifts was revealed in the mid-episode card of episode 14. This topic will also be touched upon later in the story.

The weakness of Gremmy's power is that you need to continuously imagine it for your creation to continue existing. We see that Yachiru's cookie bone, his hardened body and stone stage ceased to exist the moment he stops thinking about it. I do believe he's overestimating himself when he said the metro will not disappear if you kill him. It's a good way to write this power so that it's not undefeatable. When a Quincy dies I believe their power and knowledge returns to Yhwach and not their ability. The ability is unique to the person like a zanpakuto.

And that meteor would have destroyed the entire soul society with everything inside, including the entire quincy army and indeed everyone was panicking in the manga, fearing for their lives. which is why Yhwach locked him before.

to simplify why Gremmy lost, he imagined himself being as strong if not stronger than Kenny, but the body he had wasn't able to maintain that strength, and so when he tried to replicate Kenny's strength, he just ripped apart and couldn't maintain the body he had created for himself anymore, basically like imaging 2 gallons of water in a 1 gallon bucket, it'd be impossible for the bucket to hold more than 1 gallon, and it's hard for a human to even imagine 2 gallons of water within a 1 gallon bucket, because since it's not a reality that is possible, we cant even really fathom where the extra gallon would go, even if we try to imagine it, it's just not possible

yachiru's zanpakto is weird. but basically she has two beasts, one swings its sword ahead of her in the same path and the other swings its sword behind hers in the same path. its 3 swords swinging in sequence, and i think she can make the other two swords unnoticeable to the enemy. Gremmy is a character that really needed more screen time, there's not much backstory or anything to him and what little he had was only shown in the manga, basically, yhwach locked gremmy up because he was dangerous and only let him out for the invasion. liltoto(the short blonde that ran with bambi) is about the only one with any real connection to him because she would visit him in the cage and he would imagine all the best food for her tiny gluttonous arse to eat. He really needed more time to develop because he's a great study on what someone with that kinda power must be like. Think about it... when you can make anything you want to happen(and yes he can do anything with his shrift he just isn't good enough for the ability to be it greatest potential)... is there really anything you want? When you can have anything you dont care. but then for the first time he actually WANTED something while fighting kenpachi. He basically realized he was a battle freak just like kenpachi, and for the first time he felt alive and excited. would have been so fun to explore his character and psyche more....

The Gremmy issue is one that was NOT explained in the manga, but it WAS explained in a light novel that is cannon. A lot of stuff from CFYOW is being adapted into the anime though, so it likely will be explained later. Without spoiling anything, there are certain Quincy who are special, and have powers that didn't necessarily originate with Yhwach. Gremmy is one of those, and they will explain exactly what they are, likely in the 3rd cour. Gremmy has one of the strongest Quincy powers, but he's not the most powerful. Within the Sternritter, some are classified as the Imperial Guard (the ones on stage with Yhwch when he announced Ishida as his successor), and most of them could pretty easily kill Gremmy. Most of the others would just be fodder to him though. Also, it goes without saying that Yhwach would handle him without any trouble.

for every imagination gremmy does he should use some amount of spirit energy that one of the limit of his power its still need use resource(mana) also because simple thought, conscious or not, should still affect the field so all his negative thoughts that can hinder him should also affect(like a double edge sword) like aizen said sp is all in battles of bleach gremmy can attack kenny but his body can negate some hax abilities based on his own sp( sp and spiritual energy are diff, like aizen vs ichigo, ichigo can destroy aizen kidos but can still be dmg by aizen) yes gremmy did not use maximize his capabilities but he cant just use his powers to erase everyone becuz he should need to have a higher sp than those hes gonna erase combine yea the if his powers are permanent or fades is weird, though my headcanon is that if its creating material like meteors, space or lifeform are permanent but changing stuff might be temporary(though his body fades maybe if its killed his imagination fades) the clones might help him concentrate his imagination its theorized that the stern the sigma that ichigo killed in his return to soul society was one of gremmys creations also his powers the worse if you have social anxiety and bad thoughts so another weakness is his powers cant be filtered no yes or no button

Now that you've watched this, you're probably thnking Gremmy losing to Kenpachi si BS. Writing-wise, I think it is fine. Gremmy IS broken as all hell, he did imagine everything right. But he already lost the moment Kenpachi showed up. He did say in the end that he did imagine Kenpachi to be this very strong monster of a unit, and so everythng he imagined onwards were basically gimped with his "imagnation" of Kenpachi being unbeatable by any normal means, by which Gremmy thinks making imagination a reality is considered "normal" in his book.
