Had this exact problem 3 weeks ago! Would not start, no matter how long I cranked. Replaced the igniter tonight, and she fired right up. Thanks for posting the video!

Thanks Mitch for the videos. Picked up a 1989 mazda b2200 with 120k miles off a widow. Truck sat for 10 years. Your videos have brought it back to life. Thanks for your time.

Its a distributor dust cover or distributor cover. Can find them at parts geeks and ebay probably find it on other sites

I have a cross-bed tool box in all my trucks, and have an inexpensive multimeter in each, and some tools. I bought a brand-new distributor last year (after swapping in a used ignition control module I had into my original B2200 distributor, which did work). So my original distributor with the used used ignition control module now sits in my cross-bed tool box. I was able to test the pick-up coil with my multimeter: mine was OK, the one from the parts yard distributor was bad so I figured that its ignition control module was OK (I didn't understand how to test that) and it fired up when installed in my original distributor.

Mitch, I have a 89 b2600i and I have experienced what you are explaining twice so it happens in both engines.

Hi Mitch good to see your still making videos, its really informative and helpful to me as i have a B2200 project. Is there a link to that part for the B2200.

Search for your vehicle on RockAuto. Thats what I would do. Or visit a local O'reileys

At 9:30 minutes - a JIS screwdriver fits our trucks better than Phillips. Some blunt the head of a Phillips to approximate Japanese JIS screwdriver shape. I actually bought a JIS screwdriver through Amazon.

Excellent video. Here’s a question , is the distributor different on 1990-93 Fuel injected B2200’s compared to the carburetor B2200’s .
@MazdaMitch3 ай бұрын
Yes slightly. The ICM is different. You can see the difference looking up the parts on RockAuto. Same principle applies.

Okay this was a great video for me because I am having this very issue still. I already replaced my ignition control module on mine and I’m still having the same cranked but won’t start issue. Already checked everything else out so now I’m stuck. Perhaps I have done something wrong but I had someone more experienced helping me so my confidence in the job done right is higher than it would be if I did it alone. Perhaps a follow up video or comment if you would what else I’m missing here if anything?! Like I said I have a good fuel pump, coil, replaced the brain/computer, good ignition, new starter. Can’t remember what else but one minute it drove fine. Stopped and when tried to crank it wouldn’t fire off. Cranks great. Got gas. What am I missing? Forgot to mention mine is a 91 b2600i 4x4 for what it’s worth. Thanks

The 2600i is notorious for computer issues. The ECU would suffer from what they call puffy caps which is the capacitors swelling up and busting and no longer working.
@Marvalicious3 ай бұрын
@@MazdaMitchthat’s disappointing since the computer has already been replaced on it once before. Thanks

I am. I have some new designs in mind so give me a little more time please

I would guess it is a water seal, You don't want water in a distributor.
@MazdaMitch3 ай бұрын
That sounds plausible, thanks.

Thank you for the video mitch! So unfortunately I actually have spark, it has compression, and even on starter fluid it won't start. It leaks coolant from the side of the block but when we checked the cylinders they were dry as a bone. I tried adjusting timing but still to no use. My fuel pump is dead aswell which is a simple fix. What should I do to atleast get the motor running?
@MazdaMitchАй бұрын
Replace your fuel pump if you know it's bad. Check your compression in the engine
@jadenacevedo3183Ай бұрын
Yo man I saw you did a video about the fuel pump a while ago I’m changing it now and the pump I replaced it with is Delphi fuel pump but even with a spacer it feels like it’s in a bind is it ok to use 2 spacers if I put a gasket in between the spacers?
@MazdaMitchАй бұрын
No you only need to use one spacer. You put a gasket on each side of the spacer so one gasket will be up against the fuel pump and one gasket will be up against the cylinder head and the plastic spacer will be in between.

Hey Mitch do you have any spare rocker arm bolts that you willing to sale?

No I hoard my parts I don't part with any of my parts. Take your boat to a hardware store and match it up it'll be fine

I was thinking that a battery terminal removal tool should work for removing the reluctor wheel safely.
@MazdaMitch3 ай бұрын
That should work great if you have one on hand. Thanks for the input!
@thecuss68173 ай бұрын
Yes, that's what I needed, and used, on my own distributor.
@twilson6283Ай бұрын
ACTUALLY quick question what if the resistance is higher than that I’m at 17.81k
@MazdaMitchАй бұрын
Maybe the meter you are using is not set correct? Maybe it can go both ways and have too high of a resistance and of course there is what I had, too low of a resistance.
