I remember when my English teacher showed the class this short animation when I used to be in highschool. I had to come back to it because not only are there good memories, it's a wholesome animation that shows that the "villain" isn't really a villain. They're just misunderstood.

I had to watch this twice, this is the best piece of animation I have seen in decades, it is absolutely amazing. This is something I would really like to see in theaters. I love Ralph the dragon, yup his name is now Ralph. Just simply the best of animation here, pure creativity. Its a world I would want to visit or escape to.

This is a really super nice short film (unfortunately too short), I just find Grendel to cuddle. He's the nice guy next door who you just have to love. A really very successful new adaptation of the Beowulf material. The once villain of the story is now the hero, much like Disney's Maleficent. A really very nice work. The animation is also award-winning, Grendel's fur really looks like it was made for cuddling. ❤❤❤

This is the best animated short I’ve seen in a long time. Not only was the story great but it made me laugh so hard! Heck I’d say I enjoyed it more than the entire train you’re dragon franchise. The Viking with the flags absolutely had me in stitches with laughter. Excellent!!!!

Very good animation. They should enter him in the short film competition. I love the way they deconstruct the image of Grendel as a monster and show him as someone kind and friendly. Poor Grendel. He just wanted to live his life peacefully and be a good neighbor, but they wouldn't leave him alone. More than the ending in which the Vikings finally accept the grendel, it is him remembering who he really is after seeing his image on top of the dragon destroying the Vikings' home. The facial expressions are also very clear, telling the audience exactly what the characters are feeling. The characters enchant the audience, who, in turn, acquire sympathy for them. Very good story indeed. It deserves to receive more investment so it can grow. It's better than many films I've seen at the cinema in recent years. My congratulations to the creators and those involved. Keep up the good work.

I love how Grendel is not portrayed as evil, but a neighborly and frustrated fellow who chose to help the Vikings who kept being mean to him in the end because it was the right thing to do. And once they realized that, the vikings made amends.
@roberts5539 Жыл бұрын
but was it really 'the right thing to do'? maybe from the vikings point of view. The Vikings were little more than an infestation of rats to the dragon. Clearly they had been vermin to the other dragon as well, who thought it best to exterminate them. Now the 'friendly' Vikings will soon take over the land, compete for resources, then turn on Grendell in the end. It's what Vikings (humans) do.

To be fair, in the original story Grendel only attacked when they were being to loud. The King literally got Beowulf to kill Grendel because they couldn't party like loud asshole neighbors.

Nice to see an adaptation that shows Grendel not as a monster, but as just someone who has to deal with noisy neighbors. cause really no matter what the context is, Grendel just wants to live in peace and quiet, and not have its arm taken for it....

👍👌👏 Oh WOW, what a fantastic short movie. I wonder why there are not much more views. It's a great video with a great message. Actually Grendel is like me = only wanting peace and quietness around. But because I have bad neighbours, this simply doesn't happen. Unfortunately there is no enormous dragon to eat and frighten them away, sigh. 😁 ;-) Thanks a lot for making recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and especially health to all involved people.
