You’re absolutely right, Jeff. Like in the regular TCG, when you’re playing a deck, a really important thing to identify about it is whether it’s better going first or second. In TCG Live, Charizard Ex decks, in my experience, were better going second, whereas the Chien Pao-Palkia V deck I play now really wants to be going first. The more you play, the more you learn the deck you’re playing, along with the best, most efficient ways of getting your combo setups in place.
@jaredongsingАй бұрын
I don't mind the mechanics of going first or second, though I do wish there was a way to set it in private matches. That way you can test how your deck does in different openings.

This is one of my personal favorite decks to use. I've been running normal Articuno over Bruxish but otherwise it's the exact same. The potential synergy of Bruxish with the other mons makes me want to use it more, but Arty's extra 10 HP and paralysis chance have both come in very handy.

to be fair, stage 1 single-energy pokemon that prefer going first need you to pull 2 specific cards early to actually gain an advantage, while having the energy before your opponent matters in more situations
@dakotaray4468Ай бұрын
And it’s also a very specific card type that wants to go first. If it’s not a basic or stage one single energy attacker going first feels bad. Literally everything else prefers going second, and that’s always going to be a bigger set of cards.
@roboticvenom1935Ай бұрын
@@dakotaray4468He mentioned marowak EX which is 2 energy. Although if you go against a pika EX that goes second, a deck that's weak to fighting, STILL loses. In the end Pika EX will have knocked out marowak EX assuming they flip the expected 1/2 heads of course. So his examples aren't even true they're mostly bogus. Pika EX kills it with 20HP remaining. And by then they're ALSO going to have another mon on the bench with an extra electric energy meanwhile the fighting deck has zero energy left over. What a broken system- heads/tails also kills tournaments. I would venture to guess almost all tournament winners have most of their games played flip 2nd as it's a significant advantage. Meaning of you flip tails most games you probably won't win even with perfect play- what a shite format. Tournaments need to be able to set when a player gets head or tails each battle so it's fair. Not hard to implement either. Not sure why Jeff is defending this obvious idea.

Hello i just want to let you know i enjoy watching your vids on pokemon pocket! it lightens my day!

Honestly, having played multiple online ccgs over the last 10 years pocket does so much right so far and the focus on being a collection game really makes it stand out positively. Getting cards in pocket is fun, getting them in mtga is a n annoying chore just like it was in hearthstone. Runterra was slightly better just because I could just drop a few bucks on the cards I wanted, but it still wasn’t fun. Pocket has a lot of growing to do to make it easier to be a player. Getting to add cards I don’t own to the deck-builder and automatically wishlist them would be a good start. But overall I am very exited to see the game getting the attention it deserves.

Hey Jeff, your decklist graphic (displayed on the left right at the start) is missing the info about which energy the deck generates. Noticed it here cause I feel like there's an argument for playing with or without dark energy.
@HooglandiaPocketАй бұрын
Playing decks with a missing energy is almost always bad. If I'm skipping an energy I'll call it out verbally, but in general that is awful and you shouldn't do it.

19:50 what is the advantage to 5 basics vs 4?
@HooglandiaPocketАй бұрын
Less linear, more dynamic gameplay. Tournament decks have been optimizing to play 5+ basics so you have things like getting stuck on 2 Ralts happen less frequently. The people pushing for only four basics when this game launched were very wrong that it was optimal.

Get premium. It's cheap and you spend more time on KZbin then you do any other content medium. It's worth it- it also gives you other nice perks like YT music, etc. Normal KZbin with ads will only continue to get worse and it's especially hell on TV's.
