“Oh, we’ll make sure you have time.” It’s great to see this mutual respect between interviewer and interviewee. It’s also encouraging to see that they feel comfortable enough with their tour “handlers” to exercise some control (however slight) in this situation even as their popularity and demands on their time grow. I can’t wait for the album, so I’ve been trawling these interviews for hints as to release dates. Feel free to loose it upon the earth any day now, guys.

Jake is the most interesting guy in the group for an interview. You were lucky to have him with Danny so he had room to speak. He's the most introverted and pensive amongst them. I think he's so intriguing to many not just because of his kindness, but also because you feel like there's something to explore, feel like you've only seen the tip of the iceberg of what's going on inside of him. In this interview you could see he's willing to go deep and personal. Yet he's hardly ever asked to do so. This was a good start. I hope there'll be another interview with him that goes deeper, FaceCulture interviews are amongst the best.

I like the questions FaceCulture asked. As the owner (who I think did this interview) says, "We don't give you snappy entertainment bullshit, but in-depth interviews." The Led Zeppelin part begins at 14:40. Jake's answer makes sense to me, but I am sure the nattering nabobs of negativity will distort Jake's words to fit their "Greta Van Fleet is just a Led Zep cover band" narrative, but if you listen carefully and think about what he says, it fits, it's consistent, and it makes sense.
@SUNIKIGAMING6 жыл бұрын
I like a band continuing the sound Zeppelin started but ffs... Watch the body language. These guys knew damn well what they were doing. You can't make that music and not know it sounds exactly like Zeppelin. It sounds organic and great yes and I think they can maybe say this shit about the instrumentation simply based on the fact a ton of bands had the same bluesy guitarwork. That not just a zeppelin sound but!. The vocalist sounds exactly like Plant on so many levels. Even his phrasing and stage presence screams of Plant. Nobody can deny it, he was incredibly influenced by Robert Plant and if he'd just own up to it, it wouldn't piss me off. But these guys name every band/influence under the sun except for Zeppelin. Fucking Aerosmith my ass.

"Nattering nabobs" is such an appropriate term. I agree that these are thoughtful questions, and, also, that these are thoughtful, articulate young men.

At first I didn't believe it, and for a year I believed it wasn't true, but I just watched a video where they covered "Ocean", I think it was early last year like January, and they all sounded so into it. I mean, it's hard to describe unless your a Zeppelinite, but those guys not only knew the chords, but it's almost like they watched TSRTS and just played that version. Like the spacing between lyrics was the same, the add in lyrics that Plant sings, Josh sang, it's just overwhelming evidence. One cannot simply call themselves a casual Led Zeppelin fan and play a cover of that song the way they did. It's my firm belief that these kids just don't like Led Zeppelin, they live Led Zeppelin everyday. I wouldn't be surprised if they listen to Led Zeppelin at least once a day. For them to decline that they have copied Led Zeppelin, even if it was (as it is in their opinion) a minor infraction, just admit that you are, so we can move on. IMO they are not a cover band if they do that, but if they don't, then to me, it's plagerism.

For those of you trying to make uneducated comments regarding copyright material and Led Zeppelin, a lawyer (one I know quite well) once said (in regard to Led Zeppelin and copyright material ) "They anchor something new in something familiar - and the best songs often succeed because of how well they play those new and familiar elements against one another."

I hope that because the Zepp thing was brought up allot by people, that the band didn't make a conscious effort to not be like Zepp, because the Zepp influence is one of the things I like about them. I am looking forward to this new LP or their first LP, I want to hear the maturity that they are talking about from being on the road for a year. I am really hoping that this album is really good. but without being totally different than what came before it, but hopefully it will have some other noticeable 60's and 70's influences on it. then we can hear for the next year about how they sound like The Who. lol
