I have a very erratic taste so I can usually find something for me in all ranges - from celebrity scents to the extremely expensive one like Clive Cristian or Louis Vuitton. The only problem I have is when fragrances don't perform and they cost 200+$. It really irritates me, but I'm smarter now and I sample extensively first. 😅

I'm so glad you shared this video because for years I felt something was wrong with me for not liking a lot of these frags that people have raved about for so long. I mean, I forced myself to buy fragrances that I really didn't like just because of their popularity. These days when I buy perfumes it will be because I actually love them. There are not a lot of people who would be honest about these super well known frags on social media so thanks a lot for being transparent.😊

I'm totally with you on Narcisso Rodriguez - I'm a musk lover so I really expected to love them, but I can't. I also agree on Philosophy. I also agree about Le Labo, JHAG, and Byredo. I love Byredo's Gypsy Water, but I find the lack of longevity to be terrible, and I don't care for Dapper but the Alexandria dupe is great. Jo Malone also is a house I don't love mainly because of lack of longevity but also many of their perfumes are too plain for me. Unpopular, but also I'm not a a Tom Ford fan because so many are priced ridiculously, esp for the lack of longevity, and I feel like a lot of them are just cash grabs.

Gorgeous, I love hearing honest negative opinions too! And I agree with all of those brands, except Montale (I like and own Intense Cafe, Ristretto Intense Cafe, Arabians Tonks and Honey Aoud). We need a Part 2🤩There are quite a few more brands with nothing really special to offer, or good but way overpriced for what they are. Good job, Greta, it seems that nobody wants to say the true here!

One thing i really like about montale/mancera , i can smell their "mission statement " so to speak. I know what theyre going for and they make no excuses and they zero in on that goal. I like that about them. Houses like mfk on the other hand i dont smell passion from their fragrances. It is just one mediocre release after the other, resting on their laurels of br540 and oud satin mood. I can smell passion from mancera.

Diptyque im not a big fan of but i do want a bottle of Oud Palao, it is amazing oh it is a sultan regal overpowering stank bomb but something about it draws me back in i always spray a few sprays whenever i see it at the south coast plaza.

Good video, Greta! Byredo... The price, for low performing frags is crazy! With your collection it's easy to understand why you wouldn't like/choose the brands you can't get on board with! I like Poudre too, but do I reach for it much? For bedtime if ever. I liked the original white cube the most, but of course it's discontinued. I may try Ego Stratis, I like some JHAG. xoxo

Yessssss, so agree with all your choices! I’d also add Mugler & Prada. Overall, I think I’m moving away from most designer brands. They just don’t excite me. Not to sound like a snob, but I also absolutely despise celebrity scents. I have yet to smell one that doesn’t smell cheap.

Well, isnt that what hobby exploration is all about? If everything must be liked, if everything is one color, one texture, or story, etc, there wouldnt be a community diving deep into its waters, down the rabbit hole. Exploration implies discovery challenges, likes and dislikes, and things that make us run away and explore away from it, and things that draw us in, and we find a home somewhere deep in that rabbit hole. So i say you are showing that you are a true fragrance/scent explorer enthusiast. Not just a frag yes man. Thus i have a lot of respect for that honesty and forthrightness.

Part 2 Please! I agree with you on so many -- especially Le Labo, Chloe and Philosophy. Yawn! I've tried samples of Royal Crown and they were lackluster for the price. I do, however, love Musc for Her (Narcisso), Bal D'Afrique (Byredo) and Eau Capitale (Diptyque). Thank you for your honest opinions.😊

At 7:00 the 50ml bottles of Byredo "Vanille Antique" and "Reine De Nuit" are now 375.. for a 50ml bottle. Yikes 😮 I don't own any Byredo. I almost bought Bibliotheque but never pulled the trigger. Dryer Sheet fragrances.

I agree on many of them! Byredo is so overpriced for me, everything I have tried disappeared after almost 2 hours and I didn't even especially liked the scents. I remember not liking Bibliotheque very much 😆 Marc Jacobs is so boring, they have lovely bottles but I never liked any of the perfume they've got. Decadence is gross, for me it was straight up cucumber smell 🙈 I would also add Jo Malone. I love the bottles as well but the juice isn't worth the money. I like to buy Zara x Jo Malone frags, same quality and decent price, exactly as it should be in her main line. Hugs! ❤️❤️

Thanks for being so honest and I agree with you on almost everything. I do have two Byredos, Bal D’Afrique and Mojave Ghost, but I bought them on a good discount. I wouldn’t repurchase though. They are way overpriced along with Le Labo. You look great in that color by the way.

I do not like Le Labo either, they're just not well blended. Narscico is one of my faves. Philosophy works on me but I wear them to bed. I LOVE Decadence, I get so many compliments, but I don't like any other fragrances from Marc Jacobs.

Totally agree with Byredo and LeLabo!! I do own Bal D' Afirique, I have a few scents that are not overpowering I keep in my collection for when I go out to dinner, so I don't offend. Acqua De Parma Colonia is the other one. Appreciate the honest review. I do like the smell of "Bergamot 22" if that would last longer, it would really be a hit!

I’m curious to know the other Montale & Mancera fragrances that you’ve tried. I’ve been wanting to get into them because I heard that they were beast mode fragrances. I recently bought a decant of Roses Vanille, and I really like it. I’ve also been interested in Ristretto Intense Cafe and Arabians Tonka by Montale. Amber Fever, Vanilla Exclusive, Black Vanilla and Holidays by Mancera.

Such a fun video! I have tried a whole discovery set from Montale and Ramon Monegal. I ended up purchasing only Flamenco. I liked Intense Café, I couldn’t get behind the rest. I don’t like Decadence from MJ either. I wanted to love Francesca Bianchi, I ordered 8 samples, but too animalic for me. Tyger Tyger is nice, tho.

What do you think about Fragrance du bois? I loooove their perfumes like Santal Complet, Milano and Minuit et demi, but on me they have close to no sillage and last about 2 hours at best and that for a price of almost 300usd. In my opinion this is the most overpriced brand because of this. Its like a body mist from Zara when it commes to sillage and how long you can wear them 😭 im so sad about this because i really like several of their perfumes

Alexander J. 's zafeer oud vanille is one of the greatest soft warm cosy Woody tobacco vanille and coconut scents. May be the best i ve tried yet. But the others , u r right. Sth always bothers me. Montale chocolate greedy is giod but overhyped, mancera Coco vanille and roses vanille are really creamy and long lasting and better options to feel the quality.

Mancera/Montale isn’t refined that’s for sure lol but I do enjoy some of them. They have too many scents and I think that’s part of the problem, they start to smell alike. From the houses I have: honey aoud, instant crush, blue silver, intense cafe, crazy in love, oud mazing and aoud lemon mint. I wear instant crush quite a bit, idk why I just love it. Not my favorite house by a long shot but every now and then they do something good. I hate the Montale bottles though 😅

I dig your honesty and I share a lot of your same opinions. 3 of these houses you mentioned have only one hit for me from each and the rest have been real let downs so I don’t keep up with the releases since I know generally what I’m in for. I have to admit I enjoy byredo bal dafrique quite a lot and maybe I just got lucky but for me it lasts awhile for a fresh scent but I agree most have terrible performance and don’t offer much else. I don’t care to own any more but Bal is one of my go to easy reach fragrances and is also good as a palette cleanser if you will, from heavier scents. I bought my bottle from Europe and they are much cheaper over there. Le labo is the same Byredo situation but I can’t deny I do enjoy Santal 33 and that one for me does perform very well and again I buy it in Europe because it’s cheaper that way. I did also like the smell of their bergamot one but it has abysmal performance… blink and you miss it. Definitely not worth the price tag even on discount. The rest of the house is quite boring to me. I don’t even reach for Santal 33 that often but something about it comforts me. Royal crown is very overpriced and gets too much hype imo but I do own and love one called Nocturna. It’s a delight to wear, not beast mode but moderate projection but I really enjoy the scent profile and it gets me a lot of compliments and probably weird looks after they google it and see how much it is, LOL! I got mine in the $300 range rather than the $500 but they are overpriced and the one that most people talk about from the brand, sultan, isn’t even good to me. Other brands I don’t care much for are Kilian, only because most of them perform so badly but I enjoy the scents. Some of them actually perform well like the red version of rose and oud, I own and adore that one but a lot have really bad performance sadly. Ex nihilo is another brand that has some good scents but performance is horrible in most on them. I never feel comfortable blind buying them for that reason. Hit and a miss. I don’t wear a lot of designer fragrances these days but in that realm, I don’t like Kayali fragrances, they are overpriced and so mediocre. I don’t like JHAG either, boring short lasting scents. I could go on and on but I won’t 😇

Greta - do you have an issue smelling Baccarat 540 like you do with Juliette Has a Gun fragrances? I can't smell either --- absolutely nothing. With 540 I get a quick splash of alcohol and then nothing. I blind bought it too and now stuck with that expensive bottle!

Chloe smells good but its very simple but it doesn smell good just boring. I havent tried Miu miu but everyone has been raving about the new flanker. philosophy looks good and alot of people like it but i havent tried them good to hear your opinions. i recent tried a decant of frederik malle la parfum de theresa and i had to run to wash it off it smelled so bad. also didnt like Diptique

I'm with you on NR, Greta. I'm a long-time musk lover, but there's something about their musk DNA I really don't vibe with. I have For Her EDT, Pure Musc and the For Her with Rose. They're all ok, but I reach for them more out of obligation to wear all my perfumes than out of actual desire to wear them. Maybe I'll give the Poudre a shot down the road. 💜

Thanks so much for your honest reviews. Byredo and Le Labo are extremely overhyped. I don’t like the bottles and they are priced like top notch niche fragrances 🙄 I’ve ordered samples and I was so disappointed 👎 Another house I don’t like is Oscar de La Renta, a total waste of $$. Part 2 please 🙏 Do you know a line called Nobile 1942? It’s from Italy and my favorites are ‘La Danza de la Libelulle’ (a delicious gourmand) and ‘Perdizione’, which I sometimes layer with Oud Satin Mood from MFK. Maybe you should look into them, they are good 👍 I wish they were more KZbin reviews on this house.

Hi Greta, I bought Portrait of a Lady, because people were talking about it so much. And I hated it, but now that you say that you are using it as a winter perfume, I will try it like that. Thank you for being honest. I will include Lost Cherry from Tom Ford, way to overprice and the cherry scent only lasts like 3 minutes top, to end up with something that I don't even know what is it. Just like the name says "Lost Cherry".

I must have good taste!! I don't own any of those brands except Diptyque. My first niche bottle was Eau Duelle (long gone now), I own the 2016 Limited edition in the black bottle which I regret as I hate the squeeze bulb sprayer. Byredo doesn't last. I tried every Le Labo, including the city scents and nothing appealed to me. I was into patchouli for awhile and I have Montale's Patchouli leaves decant which will last forever as Montale is always beast mode (which isn't always a good attribute). I was happy to see Cathrusia was not on your list as I just bought Mediterraneo and A'mmare for the spring (if spring ever arrives this year). Fun to watch!!! Yes, part 2.

I agree with you 100% except for Le Labo, Byredo and Diptyque. I have some forever repurchases in my collection from those houses. But that's the beauty of fragrance, it's personal to our individual tastes. I really thought you were gonna like Byredo Black Saffron! I thought that one was going to convert you. If you still have the decant I sent you, spray it on a test strip 🤗🥰😍 Great video and love your honesty! 💋

With Le labo the only ones I liked and work on me was of course Santal 33 (my most complemented fragrance), Noir 29 and the Matcha 26. With byredo I like a few. But I do have to agree they’re extremely overpriced for what they are and I don’t get luxury vibes from them.

I agree with you on most of what you said. The only exceptions are I do like Marc Jacobs Perfect, but as a basic out running errands type of fragrance. The other exception is Philosophy Pop of Sun which I find to be a nice light cheerful summer fragrance.

I was going to write a long comment but I just agree with your whole list. 😂 Although I will add that Royal Crown sort of turned me off when I watched Sebastian’s visit to their boutique. The woman giving the run down said they are “the niche of the niche”. They have a very particular clientele. Maybe she didn’t mean for it to sound arrogant, snooty and rude but it came off that way. It caused me to side eye the brand. Lol

Hey Greta, I love your honesty...I couldn't get with the Chloe or any flankers, and omg Decadents I can't 🤣🤣🤣🤣, but I really like my Philosophy for those soft pretty days and for Netflix and chill days, but they can be pricey unless you get them on sale

Thank you Greta👏 thanks god I have not try 90% of these brands that you've covered in this video because you have never recommended them. The only brand I am familiar with is Mancera and its sister's company and you're totally right, I do find them harsher and not as refine. The only one I owned is instant crush, this was because I was going through a BR540 phrase and want to be able to smell it and not have it disappear, so I got instant crush as it's a dupe. But now I am considering gifting it to a friend as I have no need for it😅 Thank you for your love of perfume and you honest opinions ♥️🥰

Instant crush gives me that scratchy throat feeling like what you get after one too many margaritas made with cheap sour mix 😂 BR540 or HOS whispers of truth don’t do that.

Love this video! Feel the same about Narciso. The only one I like is ‘musc noir rose’…It’s pretty and soft. I think you may like it. Le Labo…. I don’t like either. I particularly hate ‘Santal 33’…too woody for me. And the packaging is so plain… much like Byredo. Philosophy is overrated and doesn’t last past 30 min. Marc Jacobs ‘Daisy’ I think is very juvenile. Never tried ‘Decadence’ but by your description, I’ll pass. Juliet has a gun… overrated and too expensive for the amount you get. Montale and Mancera… too synthetic for me. Dyptique… still on the fence about. A few of the other houses you’ve mentioned… never tried and probably won’t. But I’m happy someone feels the same as me! Lol. You really hit the nail on the coffin with this video! Thanks for sharing!

I’m kind of jealous, I wish I didn’t love Byredo because I absolutely agree that it’s overpriced af. I adore Inflorescence, I find it euphoric and intoxicating actually but it fades waaaaay too fast. I really only get to enjoy for like an hour, honestly. I like Young Rose, Bal D’Afrique and Tulipe as well.

Oh Greta 😂 I understand, but not my philosophy! I love the body washes and the scents are perfectly gentle. I have a soft spot for their fragrances because I could still wear them when my migraines were at their worst. They also last on me, because I get compliments after wearing for hours. most people just say I smell clean, I don’t think they come off as perfumy.

I struggle with Creed, Killian and Bond 9. The latter two, I get a very faint whiff of a urinal smell hiding in the background of a lot of their fragrances. 😂 Funny how one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Especially in the world of fragrance.
