Nice job man. I have a 5120 and a 5122 that I’ve been wanting to do and I wasn’t sure on how to go about it. I just downloaded ur vid to my phone so that when I’m ready to do it I can rewatch this to help me do it. Very cool man. Thank you for sharing your work.

I wish I had seen your video before I sent my Gretsch to the shop to be worked on. There's a lot of criticism of the Korean made Gretsch guitars of being inferior to the American Gretsch. I think the craftsmanship of the Korean are very good. I think where it falls short is the hardware. I have had problems with it going sharp not keeping good tuning. I'm also a lefty that seems to be a problem with stores like Guitar Center.

This was exactly the info I needed to fix my 5420! I got lucky and only needed to move the treble side back about a 1/8 inch. I kept the bass side pin/post in place and replaced the treble side with a slightly shorter M4 grub screw. I follow you on Insta now I am a subscriber on KZbin!

For some reason I kept thinking I had to do pins on outside of the bridge. Your way totally hides them and there is more wood (thicker part of the wooden bridge plate) that will hold it better.

I wonder if the posts went into the body because the factory used posts that were too long. On my 5420T the posts are much shorter and do not (could not) go into the body. When I changed the strings I did have to move the bridge a bit to set the intonation and it moved very easily. I did tape the bridge down before taking the strings off so it wouldn't fall off.

🤦 so, have you just pinned the floating bridge?
@stahmanguitars31592 жыл бұрын
If you watch the video and listen to the words, you'll notice the bridge wasn't floating to begin with.

@@stahmanguitars3159 Hi. I had a Ibanez Artcore introducing me to Byrdland style guitars. It was stolen. Anyway, I saw this 5410 hollow body and fell in love with it's inspiring look. The Artcore had a floating bridge and was like fuzz tone/Bigsby heaven. This new 5410 has a fixed bridge. I want mine floating similar to that Artcore. I think you shared enough info for me in the above video to accomplish this task? Am I on the right track, any advise for what I'm doing to this 5410? Will it be like the Artcore fuzz tone/Bigsby heaven that the Artcore was? Next: the pickup wiring on Gretsch's? Thank you

@@stahmanguitars3159could you leave the bridge just floating at the end? Rather then pinning it?
@stahmanguitars3159 Жыл бұрын
@@rogerfranklin83 That could sure be done. But it was pinned to begin with, and the owner of the guitar (the most important person in this scenario) wanted the bridge pinned so he didn't have to mess with it, ever. I get paid to do what people ask me to do. 🤘
