Gretsch guitars have been around since the early 1950's and were originally endorsed by Jazz and Country players such as Chet Atkins, it was only when a certain englishman who went by the name of George Harrison started to play this guitar that Gretsch crossed over to the mainstream guitar market, and as the phenomenon of the Beatles exploded onto the music scene Gretsch guitars received a much needed exposure ..
The G5120 harps back to the early years of rock and roll before solid bodied guitars had become popular and its hollow-bodied design screams old fashioned American rock and roll, the Gretsch G5120 is a really stylish instrument featuring the Bigsby tremolo and F-holed body. The retro theme is continued in the tone of this guitar with the Dual Coil Humbucking Pickups giving that rock and roll twang of yesteryear.
The trade mark features on this Sunburst hollow-bodied model are the Paddle style headstock, Bigsby licensed B60 Vibrato tail piece and thumb-nail Pearloid fret markers. Check out this stunning retro-style guitar now at the Nevada Music warehouse ...
Tony Farinha is one of PMT's local guitar professionals who as well as performing in several bands also offers private guitar tuition for all ages and abilities. Check out his KZbin page for more info.

Many thanks again Tony, a really enjoyable top session !!

@Whoisgearmanndude It's good that you want to support your own country's manufacturers, but don't forget that although these are made in Korea in order to achieve a certain price point, the profits still go to the Gretsch guitar company - and that helps them keep their other stuff being made in America. It's all good. Happy playing.

I watched a dozen different video demos of this guitar. Some of the playing was good, some not so good. My point is that none of these videos got what this guitar is all about-except for this one. Now hear this: the instrument has three pickup settings, guys! Three! Potential buyers want to hear them all. You’re also missing the boat when it comes to the right amp and the right settings. Clean it up! Rock out after you’ve shown what the instrument can do right out of the box. And if your chops are still coming along, no one will criticize you for that. But there’s nowhere to hide on a guitar like this. If you can’t do it justice, no problem. Admit it, then find a buddy who can. I bought mine specifically for what this particular instrument was designed to do, which is the style of playing that the gentleman in this video is so ably demonstrating. I’m not a KZbin policeman. You’re free to continue to post whatever you want, but you won’t get many thumbs up reviews.

George Harrison originally used a Gretsch, he said in an interview he hated the sound of it lol. I think they are beautiful guitars myself. Look up John Fogerty from CCR, he uses a rickenbacker.

@italiansrock101 I play mine through a power-tube driven Orange AD30 with an Avatar 212 open-backed with Greenbacks and a Keeley modded BD-2. Sounds phenomenal at medium gain. Thickness like you wouldn't believe. The ultimate rhythm guitar.

overdrive on a hollow body is pretty common, not ridiculous amounts obviously.. but if you've never heard an overdriven hollow body where have you been? under a rock or something?

I almost flinched myself when I saw you use that wrench to loosen up those nuts on that finish. Ive got a real simple method of avoiding scratching any that I work on.....Electrical tape placed on wrenches, pliers, screw drivers are a different subject and I buy special ones made with plastic type tips that offer the least chance of scratching something. Any comments????

Who says you can't use hollow-bodies with distorted tones? There's no rule that says it can't be done. You just have to know how to manage the feedback. I mean hell, listen to Reverend Horton Heat, he plays punk/psychobilly and uses distorted tones quite a lot with his hollow-body guitars. And not to mention Ted Nugent who played Gibson Byrdlands through stacks of cranked Super Reverbs. And if I'm not mistaken, Izzy Stradlin from Guns N' Roses played Gibson ES-175 quite a bit back in the day.

Hello, you really play great. I just bought the Gretsch G5120, but I noticed at the neck pickup (PU) is twice as loud as the bridge PU. I tried lowering the neck PU and rasing the Bridge PU. But, there is very little movement. I even raised the string screws on the bridge PU - no change. What do you recommend?

Bthepilot, From :01 to :36 he is playing 12 bar blues changes and improvising over the top of some jazzed up chords. Nice job. Starting at :36 he switches to a more blusy fingerpicking style but is still doing 12 bar blues patterns. Then comes a fingerpicking song I wish I could do. Big Ron
