I'm 47 years old, I've been playing Drums since I was 10. I've been pining for a Gretsch Kit my whole life. Never was able to have one yet, but these unboxing videos give me hope! Lot of fun.

I have an original early 50's 3 ply Broadkaster kit and It is amazing. I updated it with the new 302 hoops to really make it sing.

Keep it kickin Victor. Absolutely stunningly beautiful. That is also my favorite color. I bought a Gretsch Catalina Club mahogany kit with the 18” kick last December and I am so incredibly impressed that I think I’ll buy another one so when I change my shorts I can change my kit too! 😳. Lot’s of love always, m xoxoxoxo

These drums sound incredible, and I love them. I am currently struggling with the choice of Gretsch Broadkaster or Sonor Vintage. I really do love the Sonor Vintage Pearl wrap, but I think I am really feeling the sound of the Broadkaster pulling me in.... Oh this is tough, and I'm at the stage of my life, sorta like Peter Erskine, where this might very well be my last kit, but unlike Peter, I'm not a pro...... I love the Gretsch Broadkaster sound 20x14, 12x8, 16x16, and of course that beautiful brass snare.... Blessings!!!

Well, Did you purchase the Gretsch? And how do you love them?

Get the Gretsch dude! I have two USA kits and hit the Sonor vintage and to me like every other kit out there nothing comes close to a Gretsch whether it be the USA's, broadcasters, Brooklyn's they have 100% warmth, girth to their sound, power, attack, dynamics with a soft amazing feel!

As a gigging drummer, i simply can't afford these wonderful drums.. However, the Catalina Birch series are some decent workhorse drums, and i found an almost brand new set for under $900 Cdn dollars.. It has the beautiful Blue Diamond Halogen Fade finish, and simply looks stunning, and i can imagine what it would look like under stage lights.. But for now, i'll just drool over this kit right here, and the lucky SOB who just got it.. ;) LOL !

I feel your pain. I'm a college student, and there's no way I could drop thousands of dollars on a new kit. Gretsch definitely tends to be more expensive than other good companies too, like Tama, Mapex, or even Ludwig.

I was pleasantly surprised with how affordable Gretsch Renowns are. I had just got a new $900 range kit back in 2007 or 08, tried a kit of Renowns on a showroom floor for the first time shortly after and immediately regretted getting the other kit. It was a good one though, it went around with me a lot, until this spring when it got destroyed in a fire. But all this time I never stopped thinking about that Gretsch kit, and the one I had previously wasn't up to snuff in a studio setting and I had to keep borrowing kits for recording, so I know now what I'm replacing them with. The thing about these drums is, Gretsch doesn't overlook or downplay the significance of any detail, but they don't over-engineer their products and they do their own thing with their shell construction that makes them stand out. Comparing the build quality of Renowns to say Pearl Masters or Tama Starclassics, they're clearly on par yet you can find them for less, sometimes even with a snare thrown in.
