You get shadow of chaos at the start of any phase, not just the command phase. If you take an objective in movement, it's shadow of chaos. It relates to control rather than scoring. Rules as written say: If your Army Faction is LEGIONES DAEMONICA, certain areas of the battlefield are considered to be within your army’s Shadow of Chaos, as follows: - Your deployment zone is always within your army’s Shadow of Chaos. - At the start of any phase, if you control at least half of the objective markers within No Man’s Land, until the end of that phase, No Man’s Land is within your army’s Shadow of Chaos. - At the start of any phase, if you control at least half of the objective markers within your opponent’s deployment zone, until the end of that phase, your opponent’s deployment zone is within your army’s Shadow of Chaos.

34:46 -- crushers are too close. Rule says that crushers must be wholly within 6" from thirster for 6" deep strike. (Warp Rifts: "Each time a LEGIONES DAEMONICA unit from your army is set up on the battlefield using the Deep Strike ability, if it is set up wholly within your army’s Shadow of Chaos, and/or if it is set up wholly within 6" of one or more friendly BLOODTHIRSTER, GREAT UNCLEAN ONE, KAIROS FATEWEAVER, KEEPER OF SECRETS, LORD OF CHANGE, ROTIGUS, SHALAXI HELBANE or SKARBRAND units with which it shares the KHORNE, TZEENTCH, NURGLE or SLAANESH keyword, it can be set up anywhere that is more than 6" horizontally away from all enemy models, instead of more than 9")

Yeah I realised afterwards, I was looking at the bloodthirster data sheet which states whilst a model is within 6" it's classed as shadow of chaos. Completely missed the warp rifts section 😐 that's my bad

Great game! Genuine question though, how do you beat daemon armies like this? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a battle report where pure daemon armies have lost. they move quick, arguably some of the best melee damage outputs in game, use sticky objectives, everything has invulnerable saves, mortal wounds output with this particular list is insane, deep strike capability with reduced charge range. Only thing I can think of is mobbing them with masses of cheap units and just trying to hold them up for counter punches.

A friend of mine found a great way with infiltrator squads because of the 12" screening for deep strike. It was impossible to get close

Reminds me of a time where my opponent charged my squad of Custodes with Belakor, he did like 6 wounds, I rolled ALL 4+ invulnerables and they killed him off in return I felt so bad lol

Mr Winters your tables are very good but I think that you should not put that grey stones down at all, or at least substitute them with some more realistic rubble (try, if you can find it, marlstone)...those ones are too odd and sometimes hide the models from camera.

Question: Winters Turn 2, why did the Grand Master get to fight before Drago and the Soulgrinder? Surely the order of combat should've been Drago (he charged)/Soulgrinder then the Grand Master.

Just a quick one, the Blood thirster couldn’t contain that board edge after winning the combat right? But I was thinking those Blood Crushers on your objective could have spent CP on sticky and ride to the board edge to score there instead! So works out right?
