Straight from the legend! I don't play drums any more and I only used to play on a very amateur level - but I really enjoy watching anything you play. Your technique looks flawlessly smooth and you never half ass any video! Keep up the good work!

I played snare in high school and we held the sticks traditional, but I cannot comprehend how you use your thumb so well with it. My chops are all in the fulcrum of my index finger, thumb, and the webbed part of my hand connecting it all lol. Jazz drummers are something else.

I learned traditional in a drum line, west coast, and we focus on the wrist motion of traditional, with the fingers just a stabilizer. Probably for more power vs dexterity with this thumb focused style

First.. we learn (matched grip) second we learn (traditional grip) and last but not least, we will be learning (the joy con method)". Thanks for sharing your technique man 😎 👍 👍

Very good! 2nd video of his I've seen. So refreshing to see somebody who knows what he's doing. I was a drum major in high school, played tenor drum in a drum & bugle corps. I played traps professionally for several years. Good looking young kid! IDK who he is, but he sure looks sharp! Enjoying the vids.

Think of your thumb, 1st finger, and bird finger as a pivot point and your last 2 fingers toggle the backside of the stick. Try it!! Coming from an old man/ drummer. This is the traditional way of holding sticks and the only way I ever played! Good Luck
