I know this video is really old, but this has to be one of the closest things I've seen to "Initial D style" drifting in one of these videos. No sliding out of the corners, no excessive angles. Just rally style cornering on pavement, exactly like the characters in initial D do it. I hate when I see "Initial D style" on a video and they're just drifting constantly.

Looks more like the hitbox for the wall is not exactly where the model for the wall is. You can see it clearer at 2:34. He didn't hit the wall itself and wouldn't have ( _barely_ ), so I'd give that one to him. Happens in one or two other videos too. Probably really frustrating.

These people REALLY mastered the art of grid 2 drifting. When I first played the game I really thought it was just a gas brake thing, kinda like every other racing game I ever played but today I came back to grid 2 cause of 1 video. It literally explained how grid 2 is heavily about drifting and that was kinda all I needed to know. So I went on, restarted and ever since I started drifting a lot more and practicing I actually got past the 2nd race without being last place 🤣 and still going quite strong and tbh there I thought I’m an average grid 2 drifter. This video however told me that I was wrong, I bet most ppl back in the day drifted kinda like this instead of me chasing tight corners on wrs… since tmr is a day I’ll try to improve hard on my angles and shii 😤

Damn, GRID 2 was such a nice concept of a realistic looking game with really arcade physics without going over-the-top like other games (eg. Blur, some NFS titles) overshadowed by the fact it kinda ruined the cool concept TOCA/GRID had. I enjoyed G2 much more than G1. Probably because I played G2 first, I immediately fell in love with the style. Only years later I tried GRID, and for that moment, I had played so many games with G1's style that, while still a lot of fun, it felt like another good quality simcade. G2 even with its flaws still holds a very place in my heart, especially since I never got to see another game like it: any other game felt like G1 or grippier, and many arcadier games makes the drift feel too artificial (NFS 2015 and PB being good examples of this). In the end, even with its many flaws, G2 had much more personality than other "better" racing games (PC3, GRID Autosport... hell, even GRID 2019).

Agreed. I think these physics would've been more suitable for some underground-style racing or even touge. Using it in motorsports and especially under a very strong predecessor who set the bar very high was probably the main reason the game got so much backlash. To me personally, the original Grid and this one are two completely separate titles.
