here it is not discussed absorbing of reactive power and controlling the high grid voltage locally.

My current concern is an overvoltage originating within my own system. Checking wiring now but wondering how Enphase could have recorded 322 volts (which shut down my whole system) when I thought microinverters have voltage regulation to limit to approximately 240v +/- 10v?
@thomaswalker96354 ай бұрын
Also have determined the overvoltage did not come through the grid...no unusual local or environmental anomalies, no other neighbors with solar on immediate street effected, no recorded overvoltage from grid power supplier-TNMP.

Australias system has not considered the raising voltage problem in its design. Its solution is to tell people they will have to pay money instead of get money for having solar output to grid. Wondering how a better design would be.

I guess it comes down to the question of who is responsible for the grid voltages. I would argue that the network has way more tools at its disposal to manage voltages than the customer. Using volt-var and volt-watt should not be the main network tool. Networks should have to report and be held to account over the voltage and power quality levels they provide. They are not, which is completely unfair when those same voltage and power quality levels are causing customer investments to under perform. I am not sure how many customers understand the technical reasons behind the volt-var and volt-watt approach. I am certain that most customers have no idea about how networks are able to restrict and curtail their solar operations in this way. I am equally certain that networks do not publish reports on localised (or network wide) voltage levels, which they should do given it can have a significant impact on the financial performance of your solar investment.

I have installed 5KW ongrid solar plant, but the Waaree invertor is continuously showing warning of GRIDOVP. The three phase Grid voltage is 250 V, which as per electricity supply company is normal. In such case, please elaborate on your first solution of how to lower invertor voltage. Also the vendor is Suggesting installing voltage stabilizer before mainline. Will it work ?
@TR-kd6uf3 жыл бұрын
In the same boat. Did you get the stabiliser setup done? Also, how does he plan to send power generated back to the mainline through a stabiliser?
@Solartechreviews3 жыл бұрын
You can always adjust voltage of inverter from your end, check user manual or inverter data manual. As far as the concern of voltage stabiliser, this is also a alternative solution to maintain voltage fluctuation.

@@Solartechreviews I don't see anywhere how to set the voltage at the inverter end. But really, the difference between the grid voltage and the inverter voltage is about 4V, which means that the average 253 threshold for 10 minutes is very often exceeded. I would like to set this difference at 2V to avoid exceeding the threshold.

Hi, In the grid is shown 260 voltage and inverter is showing 264 plus and cut down.. What will do
@Solartechreviews7 ай бұрын
may be check EdgeIQ Voltage Optimiser. What the machine does is “condition” the incoming supply. You cable it in after the main switch, and the whole place will be fed with a steady 225 volts. Your solar power system will see the same voltage and function as intended, however the line side/network supply voltage will be driven up to whatever is required to make the energy flow back to the network.

Hi what happens If the load is higher than the rated grid tie inverter?
@Solartechreviews7 ай бұрын
In layman’s terms, the voltage being “tipped into” the grid shouldn’t be higher than the AS4777 limits. In order to address this, we calculate the impedence on the mains connection and adjust the voltage regulation to take this into account. This is done by looking at “live” voltage and consumption figures over the first 4 weeks of operation of the device, so we have an accurate assessment of individual household impedence levels on each site. We can then set the voltage regulation at the maximum level possible for each site without transgressing AS4777 limits. In most cases we find that the grid isn’t running above AS4777 limits, but its the impedence on the mains connection which is causing the inverter to trip. if your grid voltages are consistently above AS4777 limits, we can provide this information to the network (or in some cases the ombudsman) to encourage/provide the bais for the network to tap the grid voltages. If, for example, the grid voltages are consistently at 270 volts, we think this is the responsible thing to do.

In my area grid voltage goes 252v in day time before I connect solar. Does it mean I can not export any more after I get connected? Is it true that we can not export beyond the transformer limit?

In solar inverter there is a setting to configure OV and UV values, but based on what I've understood is even if we calibrate the value and increase the range, then the output will be reduced but it will still generate instead of simply shutting down.
