It's another perfect elk hunt - and our biggest elk by far. We've hunted all month and crossed paths with a few elk and a nice bull moose, but it all came to a sudden stop when this giant met us on the river bank.

I stumbled upon this channel almost 5 years ago, locked down in my boarding house during my college days and in a pandemic, if I don't have a class, I watched almost all the videos of this channel since no one can go out at that time and to make myself entertained. Today, although I don't have more time anymore because of work and life, I still occasionally visit this channel, it grows I still remember it having 90k or less subs to 200k plus now, that's super nice.

A friend taught me to lock arms and line up with the current when crossing a stream. It really does make a difference then two or more lock arms and walk perpendicular to the stream flow. Great trophy elk!

This video had at least a couple of deja vu moments for me. The one you pointed out. Julia's "I got the head." moment from years ago. But then there was Sarah's elk hunt (that took place somewhere around summertime) where Jeff called in a Bull Elk and Sarah took the shot from across a river... Jeff: Did you hit him? Sarah: (stressed out tone of voice) I don't know? Which was exactly what we saw here in Julia's hunt. Not only that, but Sarah's elk was so massive that you had to call in the rest of the family so you could part the elk out (because it was too difficult to move) and you packed the quarters out on horses. This time you almost did the same exact thing minus the horses. It's as if the space time continuum skipped a generation and we just watched Jeff and Sarah's hunt around summer (except) it was on the edge of winter time with Jeff and Julia. I'm telling you if Abby walked out of her crok crossing the river, and Rose walked down stream to retrieve it, I'd be thinking that this video was some sort of generational evidence of the MAN D'ELLA E'FFECT in a Gridlessness video. I really appreciate how much the girls respect the animals. It’s hard to take a life, and it’s especially scary if you don’t watch them go down quickly. Jeff shows respect too of course, but the way the girls are solemn, thankful and happy without being gleeful is a standard we should all aim for. I imagine the animals you take for food are thankful they’re being harvested by such a respectful group of people. Much love everybody. Stay safe!

Julia, great elk, beautiful shot. Jeff look up how to set up the ratchet straps to use as a 2 - 1 pulley. Anchor long end hook to a tree, hook short end from ratchet to the elks head and pull on the open end through the ratchet unit. If you were to put 2 systems in place like that and connect them together, I believe it creates a 4 - 1. Try it, 2 pullers should be able to move a lot of weight!

First of all what a shot . That was awesome. I've never got a 6x6 but I did get a 6x5 . By myself and took me 4 days to pack it out 5 miles. Glad to see y'all got help when you need it . Second of all I love your videos. Your girls show their emotions on camera and I can feel what they feel by watching em . If that makes any sense lol. The camera showed ( at least I thought it did ) a good shot . I started yelling " what a shot , that a girl " . But when you asked did you get him . Her response was priceless .... " I don't know " . Lol. Wow what a video. That was beyond awesome . I would love to go huntin with y'all sometime. Reminds me of places I hunted in Colorado. Wow, once again great shot girl ,great shot . I have floated half elk sections across a river just like the one you crossed. The hair of the elk is like millions of tiny tubes with air inside. The front and rear halves of my elk floated on top of the water all the way to the other side. Of course, pulling it up on the bank of the opposite side of the river was a chore, but it was amazing how easy it was to get the elk across. Two of us were able to get a whole elk across.

Was fortunate to get an LEH Elk draw on Van Isle a few years ago. Best tasting meat ever. Locally, last year I bumped into an elk unexpectedly off a hiking trail I frequent. It was bow season & I was looking for deer. Got within 20 meters of the beast but couldn't get a point count before he busted me & took off into the thick timber. Last Friday I was at my favourite lake (1400 meters up in the mountains Region 8) with my canoe, shotgun, rifle & fishing rod. Paddling to a creek feeding the lake I was surprised by a huge cow moose with her calf. I had a trail cam up there earlier in the year & they walked by a number of times. I was part way up the creek which is very shallow when the cow started walking toward me, making me very nervous. Towering above me on the bank, me in shallows trying to paddle backwards..... if she had decided to charge I would have been toast. Exciting afternoon, not without success as I bagged a couple ducks & caught 2 nice rainbow trout. ;)

I watched your muzzleloading flintlock build that y'all made a year ago. Y'all did an excellent job all the way around from ball making to powder to rifle build. The only thing I saw that's a very small detail was the front sight was installed backwards. Other than that I'm a new fan to your show. Kudos to your family.

As far as good looks go all five of the Birkenshaw sisters are very beautiful. But I just can't get over how stunningly gorgeous Kez has become this year. I remember when you all were installing the floating roof over the pizza oven. That was when I noticed that Kezia was not a kid anymore. All things considered the floating roof video wasn't posted that long ago. It was as if Kez had matured almost overnight into a beautiful young lady. Now there is this video where Kez makes a short appearance and she looks like a movie star. Only better. Because Kez is not an actor. She's the real thing. Just like her sisters Kezia Birkenshaw has always been a very sweet, loveable, and authentic, human being.
