EJ is still a very good hunter, but between LS or EJ your gems are better spent on LS moving forward, he is the new meta. but also remember that hunters like LS get super charged from support hunters like CA and PL.

Why do you run the hell weapon for DH when the legendary is way better for supporting dps?

I forgot to switch it back out on this run, I usually switch between NL and DH since they share the same weapons. but yes, you are correct, the legendary weapon gives a 16% overall dmg buff to the next hunter which would be LS, so in this case way better to use.

it really comes from further awakenings, but also lvl 5 runes, maxed out book upgrades, maxed weapon, and a good set of cards with good sub stats.

I don't think so, LS and just part of the new power creep meta, same with hunters like Hell Seeker Lady being better than CT. there's only a handful of hunters that can defeat current HAH-S bosses and people often forget that LS would not be capable of doing this without highly invested support hunters like CA and PL mainly.
