I know there aren't many people commenting on these videos but I wanted to say thanks. This shit is more helpful than the in-book solutions

Just to clarify, at 14:40, shouldn't Dcavity = D0 - (2P/3) (no epsilon naught in the denominator) because the epsilon naught from the original D0 equation is distributed to Pcavity and therefore cancels with the one in the denominator?

You have Eo drawn from negative side towards positive side. That's backwards, isn't it?

For part a) I think the solution is D_cavity = D_0 - (2P/3). I think you forgot that the epsilon naught gets cancelled out.

sir why E0 and P vectors do have same direction? It should be reverse.

Thank you for your video! But I have a question. vector E0 point to from left to right(-->). Because electric field points from (+) charge to (-) charge, I think (-) charge have to be on left side and (+) on right side for a large piece of dielectric field. Also, the polarization vector P have to point to inverse direction of field vector E0. On the other hand, in your video (+) charge is placed at the left side for dielectric piece and polarization vector P point to the same direction with electric field vector E. Am I wrong or not? It then, why?? I want to know the reason... Thank you for reading my reply.

@MAMTA MEENA Ohhhh it took me a while to understand what you meant. By "external" you mean that the electric field he drew is NOT caused by the charges he drew. The electric field is produced by some other means and that field causes the charges inside the dielectric to move.

@MAMTA MEENA No, I need to thank you!! Your comment from 6 months ago is the entire reason why I've been able to understand this. Thank you so much!

For Uniformly polarised sphere, bound charges only resides on its surfaces and bound volume charge density vanishes , because P is constant and directed along z axis .. Taking divergence of P we get zero. 1st calculating the potential at any point inside the sphere and then taking -ve gradient of potential , we get electric field in that region i.e.-P/3€.
