The sandwich looks delicious. A little twist on it with basil but sounds good. I lived in Germany for seven years and had the pleasure of visiting the area the ham was made in. The Germans have such a broad scope of good lunch meats. Thanks for sharing.

Sandra Gonzalez Hi Sandra, you can use any flat pan whether its a frying pan or griddle. You just won't get the pretty grill marks. Just remember to cover your sandwich with a lid or piece of foil. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!

Stopped the video halfway through, because I know the answer. Hard not to, being German. ;) Black Forest ham is named after the region where it comes from and in the EU it is a protected trade name. The real thing is a cold smoked raw ham. Have to watch the rest now....
