I use the James Beard rule of thumb for seafood, 10 minutes for each inch of thickness. Works every time, no matter how you cook it.

I’ve never heard this but sounds about right from what I cook. I will have to remember this. Cooking from frozen definitely threw me off a bit but I’m glad it was still salvageable :-)

Hi Jerry, yet another great inspiration to try out something new - thank you! Over here manufactures tend to exaggerate (prolong) cooking time suggestions, probably just to be playing on the safe side .... Yet I have experienced that sometimes cooking time of frozen and fresh food doesn't differ that much at all. Easiest proof: Try the difference between frozen toast (white bread) and fresh one: No difference at all. Though of course it will vary cooking a 5 pound steak frozen or fresh 🙃🤪

Very true, manufacturers are going to make sure people overcook for safety. I don't cook a lot of stuff (if anything) straight from frozen, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I guess now I know.

Hi Jerry, after viewing some of your great videos, I got myself a 2nd hand Q2200. However I’m not sure is it working as it should be, since I didn’t own it from new I have nothing to compare to. It takes long time (25 min) to reach its max temperature at 240 C degree. When I’m grilling with the grid almost full, the temperature stays between 100 and 150 degrees. All with valve turned to max. I’ve checked thermometer in boiling water and it’s accurate. Does it sounds normal to you?

I'm glad I could inspire your purchase of a Q2200! Sorry that you are having trouble with it. If the grill is recently cleaned and the weather is warm, you should have no problem hitting 500F (260C) after about 15 minutes. On really hot days, my Q2000 will get up to 550F (287C). If everything looks good, it could be some blockage in the burner tube, which you can easily remove and clean out any debris. Check out this video on how to do this if you haven't found it already: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoHWdaFuq7GIapo

Hi Jerry, It looks delicious, but how were the burgers? Was cooking time of 10 minutes too long.
@ChicagoGriller Жыл бұрын
10 minutes was too long. For those thin patties, I probably should have went just 3-4 minutes per side and checked from there to see if I needed more time. I don't often cook from frozen, so I was trusting the directions on the box. Taste was still good though, but definitely required all the toppings to help mask the dryness from being on the grill too long.

Hi Gerry. There is something fishy about this video. Sorry mate😊 I have not had my coffee. We do have similar products here on Oz. I'll definitely give it a try in future.
