The charm of a village, The village of Grimaud combines the charm of Provence of yesteryear and the medieval stories kept secret by its Castle. Immerse yourself in the heart of the authenticity of Grimaud and go back the centuries along the flowery paths.
Grimaud attracts tourists from all over the world due to its authentic charm, local gastronomy and proximity to popular destinations such as Saint-Tropez.
The monuments of Grimaud make you feel the past but not only... The cobbled streets, the stone walls tell stories that they are perhaps the last to know. It resonates with the secrets of Grimaud.
Lose yourself in the alleys, a thousand stories have happened there. It's up to you to imagine them.
Grimaud, in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, is a village proudly displaying the colors of Provence. A Provence that is part of a medieval atmosphere, with its houses, its alleys, its Castle... The latter is the best known of the monuments in Grimaud, but did you know that it was far from being the only heritage building?
When summer arrives, it brings with it the blooming bougainvillea.
And what a wonder! The buildings of the old village are then adorned with a tailor-made purple dress to decorate the doors and windows of the houses.
Some bougainvilleas even climb a whole section of the facade. They are looking for the sun, to sunbathe every time!
It is a beautiful shrub that is often found in the Mediterranean, it is rare to find it in colder regions because it does not resist frost (a bit like the inhabitants of the south, it must be admitted).
A village flowered by its inhabitants
Every year, every season, the inhabitants of the old village delight us with their plantations which mingle, gently, with the houses, the alleys.
We nicknamed them among ourselves: “the village gardeners”.
It is impossible to miss the bougainvilleas during your visit. The best time to discover them is between the end of May/July. They may bloom again after summer as well.
Find the "bougainvillea walk" where around thirty shrubs are referenced and admire them in the alleys of Grimaud.
A village blessed by the gods
The heart of the perched village, wonderfully restored, has kept all its authenticity: cobbled streets, facades with vaulted arcades, pastel windows with flowery shutters, squares with bougainvillea essences. Unmissable, the discovery tour of the village, its churches and chapels bears witness to a rich historical past, traces of which can be found in the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions.
When the roads shaded by pine trees give way to large expanses of vines. When those winding roads end up guiding you over steep heights. When with your fingertips you feel these old stones full of history. The smell of bougainvillea scratches my nose, I walk from cobblestone to cobblestone, I follow these vaulted arcades. Grimaud, the radiant, Grimaud the fragrant. Labyrinthine streets, graceful houses, I discover Grimaud, the discreet one, Grimaud the secret alcove. Time has left its mark on these villages which have managed to keep their heritage without distorting it. Medieval images take shape, we happily invent a life for ourselves. The magic happens because authenticity remains preserved. If there are three Provençal villages to visit in the Gulf of Saint Tropez, it’s these three!

Kilkanaście lat temu byłam w Grimaud,oczarowało mnie to miejsce. Przewodnik opowiadał,że te domy były kiedyś otynkowane .Któryś z włodarzy tej wioski ,pojął decyzję o usunięciu tynku z domów. I tak zostały odsłonięte te piękne ,nadające ciekawego wyglądu kamienne ściany.

Such wonderful flowering plants and shrubs. Yes, I agree, that must have been the home of the 7 dwarfs. 😁 Can't you just picture them in their Fiat 500 parked out front? lol!😊 My wife just loves the climbing Bourgainvilleasthey grow so abundantly. That was quite the sight seeing you chased away by that "Big" Dog!😊 That was some lunch, looks delicious but quite costly don't you think? 60 euros is around 70 dollars that's a expensive for here. But all things are pricey nowadays aren't they. I'm sure you needed your energy refill to continue your walkabout. 😊 Several cats around, cute but not too friendly though. Wow, the size of those Pink Hortensia, awesome! So, which of the villas for sale did you choose? Your new house in France🇫🇷Viva la France!👍😎 on a Vespa? Очаровательная Франция! Не понимала почему все так восхищаются этой страной пока не посетила ее сама. Ни в одной стране мира вы не ощутите такого потрясающего чувства уюта и радости покоя! А еще во Франции потрясающие люди всегда готовые помочь любому человеку. С подругой водителем грузовика мы больше года возили во Францию пластик из Бельгии и Нидерландов, часто навигатор заводил на узкие деревенские дороги и люди совсем не зная нас слыша нашу русскую и украинскую речь с добрым сердцем бросались на помощь оставляя собственные дела! Сегодня в мире так мало человечности и такая доброжелательность людей дорогого стоит!❤️

Grimaud est magnifique village , tranquille pour un lieu touristique, Grimard je ne connaissais que de nom , saint tropez je connais mieux , et que dire des bougainvilliers, ils sont superbes , j’aime beaucoup les statues , pas trop de magasins pour attirer les touristes, c’est bien , et la fontaine avec les poissons , jamais vu ça , merci du partage , le prix de plat oui c’est un peu cher mais c’est ça dans les villages touristiques, à bientôt 😮
