Try one thing I saw on Ammo MiG videos. Instead of wiping off enamels with spirits, try wiping with water. It will give you very realistic gunky dirty spots.

Yeah! That technique is great especially with capes/robes! Used it lately in a Thousand Sons commission. Thanks for your comment!

Glad it helped! It's an old video, I would do it a bit differently now (and with better recording equipment...) but it's still valid in all its contents and insights on chemical properties of paints. Thanks!

Oh awesome! Take your time. Didn't see you wrote here too. Again, start at your own pace, experiment a little bit, and when you feel ready to learn more advanced grimdark techniques, feel free to head over to Grimdark Compendium site. It's simply full of incredible and inspiring stuff!

I've been getting more and more intrigued with adopting a grim dark style , it's analogous to my Black Metal journey ( listening and recording my own) I started off with basic stuff..and slowly but surely gravitated towards more lo-fi , disgusting sounds ..appreciating the layers of decay and texture. Your videos are speaking to me my friend, and are the tipping point for me to venture into a grim dark universe ! Really appreciate the inspiration !!

I'm glad you wrote this comment. I'm an avid enjoyer of black metal myself, but also doom, dark ambient and dungeon synth. I'm happy we are "speaking the same language", I'll have definitely more interesting things to say in the future, and I will bring both fantasy decrepit Mordheim and 40K too into my narrative. I also like to think my listeners/viewers see this series as a "ritualistic" kind of thing... Watching my videos to vibe, in front of their chimney with a glass of wine or whisky. During a stormy night, in the comfort of a cozy place. Or generally, almost in the dark, with incense and candles. More will come. Glad you found this place, and wish you all the best with your projects.

@@DarkAgesWorkshop Ah...interesting! That makes a lot of sense, for ,although there are other channels that do an excellent job of portraying the Grim Dark style..the esthetics of your channel spoke to me instantly. I also enjoy doom, dark ambient and Dungeon synth as well! Well, I'm very pleased to have discovered your work my friend, I look forward to a journey into many grim dark universes , and continue to be inspired by your creations!

@@DarkAgesWorkshop also, speaking of music, I intend to combine it with the work I produce within this GD esthetic, so as part of the world I imagine, there will also be music and or ambient soundscapes to accompany the miniatures and terrain, for a " total immersion" experience.

Grazie mille ancora.

Ciao, video super interessante, soprattutto riguardo i colori a olio.
@DarkAgesWorkshop
@DarkAgesWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Ciao, e grazie.
@orsodellecolline7289
@orsodellecolline7289 2 жыл бұрын
@DarkAgesWorkshop
@DarkAgesWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
@orsodellecolline7289
@orsodellecolline7289 2 жыл бұрын
