Type: Atlas IIC Technology Base: Clan, Second-Line Mass: 100 Tons Chassis: Clan Endo Steel Power Plant: Clan 300 Standard Cruising Speed: 34.2 kph Maximum Speed: 54.0 kph Armour: Clan Standard with CASE Armament 2 Clan ER PPCs 2 Clan ER Medium Lasers 1 Clan Ultra AC/20 1 Clan LRM-20 1 Clan Streak SRM-6 Targeting and Tracking System: Unknown Communications System: Unknown Primary Manufacturer: Clan Wolf Primary Factory: Unknown OVERVIEW Piloted by Aaron DeChevalier, and later Nicholas Kerensky himself, the Atlas holds a special place in the hearts of Clan Wolf warriors, who see the 'Mech as another of their close links to the Great Kerenskys. For long years, the hallowed 'Mech remained in Brian Caches, exhibits for Clan Wolf Warriors to visit and meditate upon. In recent times, however, Clan Wolf’s dire shortage of 'Mechs has forced the Atlas out of the display cabinet and onto the field. CAPABILITIES Clan Technicians were directed to spare no expense when they upgraded the Atlas with Clan technology. As well as being a showpiece of Clan Wolf pride, the 'Mech had to be a potent weapon. Thus it was, with considerable trepidation, that Clan Wolf technicians began to upgrade the 'Mech. The much lighter Endo Steel favoured by the Clans replaced the Atlas’ old endoskeleton. The massive Auto Cannon was replaced with a more powerful Ultra variant, and the SRM pack was replaced with a Streak launcher. Both weapons received an additional ton of ammunition. The LRM rack was stripped out for the much more advanced Clan system and provided with an Artemis guidance system. Finally, the back-mounted Medium lasers were replaced with Clan ER Medium Lasers. It was at that point the design team was bogged down, because the arm-mounted Medium Lasers needed to be replaced with newer weapons. The designers could not decide whether to increase the number of medium lasers mounted in the arms, perhaps switching to Pulsed variants, or whether to install a more powerful long-range system. Eventually, the design team consulted with Khan Vladimir Ward and Loremaster Katya Kerensky, who decided that the 'Mech should have its long-range punch increased. PPCs eventually won the argument, but sadly necessitated the removal of one of the Atlas’ venerable hands to make room for the large weapons. This loadout makes the Atlas IIC a nightmare to face no matter the range. The extra heat sinks mounted on the chassis allow the Atlas IIC’s pilot to use his PPCs and LRMs simultaneously if remaining stationary, and up close the pilot can use the LRM, SRM and double-rate the Auto Cannon without heat worries, producing the kind of firepower that most ‘MechWarriors can only dream about. Fighting at middle distance, where the Atlas IIC could conceivably bring to bear its entire weapons load, is outright suicide. DEPLOYMENT Clan Wolf is the sole user of the Atlas IIC. So far about 10 old Atlases have been re-fitted and sent to the Clan Wolf OZ. Like the Orion IIC and Devastator IIC, Atlas IICs are assigned only to ristar warriors on their way to front-line duty. You might want to drop the SRM-6 and upgrade the LRM-20 to a LRM-20 streak had a heatsink in one more time of AC-20 ammo

I have a 100 ton 3025 tech design based on my iteration of the Rifleman "Legend Killer" with 2 PPC's, 2 AC 10's, and 2 Medium Lasers with the same armor as an Awesome, and 18 heat sink (so delivering a pretty solid 20 to 30 points of damage per turn with a highly skilled mech warrior. I used the Combat Trial option on a Google Store Mech Builder and really only had consistent problems losing to the AS7-D. I just can't damage it fast enough to not get eviscerated AC 20 hits.

One thing I like about the Clan tech mechs is they have an edge over I.S assaults in that they have retained and improved much of the technology that the I.S destroyed in the Succession wars and bc of that they were able to address a primary issue with larger mech designs, mobility. The triad of armored vehicles is firepower, mobility and survivability however since mechs have a fusion reactor as a power source heat management must be considered too. There isn't too much about an assault mech that one can call "weak" with the exception of mobility. Everything with mechanized combat is a trade off, some ppl would love to slap a heavy gauss rifle on a Locust and go head hunting at 129 kph. However adding such a weapon means either one or both mobility and survivability traits has to be adjusted and in some cases the adjustments needed to make something like that work is too extreme. The Atlas though, is a design that incorporates form and function with a psychological twist, Gen Kerensky designed the Atlas with a philosophy in mind and it was retained in the 2 and 3 refits, it was simple and straight forward, "make fear itself our ally". The Atlas 2 and 3 exist as proof that Gen. Kerensky was right and he knew wtf he was talking about. Trying to take on an mech of this caliber in anything other than another Assault is near suicide, closing to melee range is definitely suicide. The massive battle fists can tear through mediums and lights like a knife through butter. These are the kings of the battlefield no doubt. No amount of extreme builds, or crazy designs or tactic like "swarming" massed lights will remove them from their thrones. While one may be destroyed the cost of that empiric victory will be really high.

@@foff3804to be fair, Clan Woof were the _only_ clan to actually bring their logistics chain with them because they actually paid attention to the intel Jaime Wolf had been sending. They uprooted entire factories, including orbital factories, and rebuilt them in the Inner Sphere which is a major reason (besides plot armour) that they recovered from being mauled by ComStar much faster than the other -morons- Clans
