D Double E can rap - watch his recent "Lyrics Galore" freestyle, or the "No Miming" freestyle he did for Tim & Barry TV, but his big influence on early grime was in terms of flow, delivery and the way he inflects bars - evolving the MC culture of dancehall / jungle into the new grime scene.

D Double can actually rap he used to be part of Newham Generals, but grime is entertainment it’s like a rap battle as long as it lands then that’s all that matters. The fact he has the balls to stand up there and just make a noise to get a reload is legendary in itself, everyone worried about their bars and he shuts it down with “buda bup bup” 🤣

Grime is not just another rap genre's, it's one of the purest because the environment it was created in was the same as the birth of HIp Hop. Hip Hop was invented for people who wasn't invited to the disco and grime was for the people who wasn't invited to the Grange & DnB raves.

Funny enough, the first time i heard d double e, i had the same opinion, you just ain’t deep enough in the game yet, there is a reason why most UK MCs call him a Goat. Whilst he can be adlib heavy, reloads are a major part of the scene and stage shows. Double was ironically one of the first MCs to be spitting verses. Real OG in dis ting!

Best way to describe a grime set is like going to the tunnel back in the day...minus the violence....(at some)😄

If you don’t know enough to be able to understand that D Double E deserves Respect on every level and has all the skills and bars other MCs would kill for, you don’t know Grime to even a beginner standard. Do your homework.

Somebody tell KSO that GRIME is not Hip Hop... GRIME... Reggae Dancehall... Afrobeats... Soca... Hip Hop... all different genres. GRIME is more a subgenre of Reggae Soundsystem Culture than Hip Hop... hence D Double's style.
@less._.70668 сағат бұрын
3:24 it's not a sub genre of hip hop get that out of your mind. You even said hip hop is predominantly about lyrics, bars, punchlines etc *GRIME* is first and for most about flow and how you catch the beats.

Bro if you really wanna go down the grime rabbit hole you have to react to the fuck radio sets. They’re legendary. Ghetts, chip, devlin, p-money, griminal, and big seac and many others. Can’t believe you still ain’t done a video to that yet.
