Symphonia IX (My Wait Is U) - 00:26
Circumambient - 07:05
Oblivion - 12:03
Genesis - 17:15
"Miss Anthropocene" album now available on iTunes, at grimes.ffm.to/...

I'm the girl with the bangs and the denim vest next to the little girl! i remember this day so vividly. My friend told me Grimes was playing at Grimey's after school and I nearly passed out. This was honestly the best day of my life. I believe some girls from another school got a petition for her to perform at Grimey's? She was so awkward. We were all standing there so awkwardly because Grimey's is super small and most people there were super serious & Grimes has this awkwardness that kinda spreads... I'm so fortunate that I got to experience this. She was and still is one of my biggest inspirations. I saw her a year ago and her shows are sooooo different now.

Haha I love your story! I played a couple of shows in a brightly lit, tiny record shop with a CLOSE audience, closer than this one, and I couldn't pull off my M O O D! Even with sunglasses. Awkward would be an understatement LOL Go Grimes for working it! I think at 11:34 she's commenting on the weirdness of it, but it's hard to make out. I won't be playing any brightly lit, tiny record shops ever again that's for sure.

I didn't know Oblivion was about a sexual assault she experienced in Montreal. She wrote the song to help her deal with the trauma. Her music is so beautiful and it makes the world a better place for me and how horrible that the world could be so brutal to her.

I dunno, I think you might be missing the forest because of all those forest-blocking tree-shaped objects🙃 I think the ‘world’ has been anything BUT brutal to her...quite the opposite, IMO...but yes, there is some piece of sh__ out there who suuuuccks for that...but without that experience her life’s trajectory might have been completely different! Not condoning the incident, just pointing out that even the things that at the time may seem to be the most horrible and meaningless experiences can later be understood as catalysts for something greater, a galvanizing or tempering as by fire, to yield something stronger, more purposed...it seems she didn’t let the bad life experiences define her, but instead took the experiences and used them to define what kind of life she wanted...there is a ‘world’ of difference between those two intersecting paths... 😉

Nicolas Coss she lived in a tent while touring in the early days. She gave up her McGill degree (probably a high classification too). Her family basically rejected her in those early days too. She makes the music by herself in a laptop. I don't know too much if anything at all about her life, but the talent and intelligent art is there and it doesn't just come from no-where. I find the best criticism is to do it better. Otherwise you seem disingenuous and almost definitely are

el cid its About her music, I still like it. Very different, but great 90's pop trance inspired music. I think she struggles in her performances now because she moves around alot and she really expanded out of her comfort zone in Art Angels, vocally anyway.

LRLArch The vocal arrangements on Art Angels are superior to Visions as well as the quality of production. I love Visions, but people need to give Art Angels a chance and stop knocking her for not making Visions part 2.

@lrlarch1706 8 жыл бұрын
Steve Booth I was talking about her performances. To me, Art Angels is better because there's a bigger diversity. I cant get through Visions without sleeping. Like seriously, alot of those songs blend together and it gets really boring. Although Genesis and Oblivion remain one of her best songs, the rest are forgettable. But I still stand by my comments on her performances. She doesn't actually try to sing anymore and she sings in this really weird way that just kinda ruins it for me.
@itsmedrooms6071
@itsmedrooms6071 8 жыл бұрын
el cid You're not the only one. I guess her performances now are just about energy and performance art than singing well or accurately? I don't get it, I mean I can see when she stays behind her equipment that she sings really well. Now, it's a totally different kind of performance and the vocals are just really off key a lot of the time. Is the jumping all around the stage throwing off her vocals or what?

I wish I would have known she had been around this long. Her music, not only comforting and entertaining, also has cause a great expansion of my mind and thought process, and the knowledge that I have the ability to see more than one view or side of any and everything. At times I tend to over think but even worse at times I tend to judge or jump straight in to a negative or destructive thought pattern. Through music she has helped to teach me to find the light in the dark just like my first wife tried to teach me for so many years before she passed away. Love always finds a WAY. ~LOVE~

Siempre me viene a la mente She's a Rainbow de The Rolling Stones. Gracias de nuevo.

This is classic Grimes doing songs from arguably her best album. Now with more perspective over time I feel more confidant in that assessment, although I really do love Art Angels as well for different reasons.

I'm looking for a concert she did outside with a huge crowd that knew every word to her Songs and sang loudly. They had a blast. I hope I can find it. I enjoyed this too. She's really talented and has a beautiful voice. She choices when to sound the way she sounds. I accidentally heard her singing beautifully haha She's different.

Definitely would be nice for the haters on Claire's voice see some of the old video like this as this is definitely one of the better vocals performances from her compared to newer stuff. Anyways great video.

For years I thought she had created her own awards show called the Grimeys (instead of the Grammies). Was very disappointed to find out that’s the name of the store she’s playing in.

Claire is just adorable here. Sorry, I know she hates that, but I do take her seriously as an artist with great production skills. Before the big and brilliant musical shift in Art Angels and before Elon Musk, there was Visions and this precious moment in time when her music was simple enough to pull off live without cringing vocals. This proves she can do it, but I think she's realizing that all those layered tracks on Art Angels are hard to pull off live without having to play the album tracks and singing along, which is not nearly as cool as this.
