For those asking about fueling mods and power figures, I did get a chance to message back and forth with Devin (the tuner playing around with our STI) and he had some feedback that I would like to relay. First of all, JM uses a Dyno Dynamics setup which is synonymous with low readings so the result you end up with are the “uncorrected numbers” at the end of the session. These numbers aren’t what the typical enthusiast is used to seeing and are often called the “heartbreaker” figures. In order to equate it with what we would consider more standard DynoJet setup WHP figures, there is an equation to generate “corrected numbers”, these are what most shops report and they fall within 5% accuracy. This gets a little confusing in terms of where/how you’re pulling figures and the way they’re presented, a good rule of thumb is to focus on percentage gains on your specific setup rather than outright HP/TQ figures. What we present as power figures is our specific result at this tuning shop. As far as fueling goes, we were in fact on the factory pump/injectors at the Stage 2 level. According to Devin, Subaru made a change sometime in the 18+ STI that allows for more timing to be pulled (thus is less prone to knock) and also allows for more power to be made on standard pump gas (93 in this case). The downside he noted is that E85 doesn’t make as much of a power difference as in the older models. For our final numbers he was in 4th gear on the dyno at 95% IDC at 22PSI, typically they’ll cap the boost a few pounds down, but we were all also curious about what the newest STI could do without pushing beyond the limitations. Hopefully that sheds some light on your questions! -Art

Thats really good to know because I have a 2019 STi, just going for a pro tune tomorrow, installed your intake today, stoked. Subaru did really give the sti a proper send off with the last few years. They make more power, are more future proof and strangely my 19 liked the cobb ots map way more than my 2013 did. Probably because of the upgraded ecu I guess? Either way I'm hyped

why is your turbo/exhaust heat shield considered stage 3 to you? why not just put it on since your already there?
@GrimmSpeed3 жыл бұрын
Hey AJ! The heatshield is grouped in with the Stage 3 Kit because the main part of that is the intercooler upgrade and it goes hand in hand with preventing heatsoak to the TMIC. We could have thrown it on in this video but since we'll be pulling the OE TMIC off in the next, we decided to stay true to how the packages are sold.

What gear is the car in on the dyno? The WHP and torque values seem to be extremely inflated. If the car was in third gear (especially since 2019+ STIs have a shorter third gear) that would account for the inflated WHP and torque values.

How does the stage 2 affect gas milage? I hate to turn my STI into even more of a gas hog.
@GrimmSpeed3 жыл бұрын
Bad news. It is most likely going to make your gas milage worse. More air, more fuel, more power, worse gas milage. But the extra power is worth it right... In order to make the most of a bad situation, be sure to pro-tune for your specific setup. The better the tune, the more efficient the car will run. Also having the ability to change maps helps so you can run at high boost when you need to and change it to something lower for daily/street driving.
