12:50 Trigonometry to the rescue! Position the tool rest so the surface is perfectly perpendicular to the wheel surface, and mark that as your zero position. Then set tool rest height to wheelRadius x sin(angle) - toolHeight, and the angle at the top of the tool will be precisely what you want.

I agree with the others...very nice presentation of grinding a lathe cutting tool. How much does the nose radius really matter? It kind of looks like you could look at the radius you made in this video and when doing your own probably eyeball it to be about the same, within 10-20% at least. I guess the question is...does one really need a set of radius gauges, or is it sufficient to just round off that edge a bit?
