This is easily one of the best educational things ive ever watched. Straight to the point (or nose radius) with a script that has all the relevant information in a neat list like format. 10/10 video

Hi Adam, thank you for posting these incredibly informative videos on mechanical components and machining. I loved the way you show all details in addition to your explanation. It helps us a lot in visualizing the part when you point to the part or show it to us. I request you to please create a video on materials like carbon steels and stainless steels, their use, their composition and how materials are selected for different applications. Thank you

12:50 Trigonometry to the rescue! Position the tool rest so the surface is perfectly perpendicular to the wheel surface, and mark that as your zero position. Then set tool rest height to wheelRadius x sin(angle) - toolHeight, and the angle at the top of the tool will be precisely what you want.

I agree with the others...very nice presentation of grinding a lathe cutting tool. How much does the nose radius really matter? It kind of looks like you could look at the radius you made in this video and when doing your own probably eyeball it to be about the same, within 10-20% at least. I guess the question is...does one really need a set of radius gauges, or is it sufficient to just round off that edge a bit?
