The Turkey Season in Virginia is in full swing.
From Opening day the Gobblers have been
majorly henned up and the Gobbling has been slow.
Matt found this gobbler by himself and the hunt
was played out on the 4th day of season.

What's your opinion on patterning birds and just deer hunting for them when there henned up or even stalking or crawling for a bird Id rather call all of them in but sometimes they don't read the script...

That tss is a game changer. I could finally reach out to them where they normally hang up at. Flipped one last season at almost 60 yards. I’ve heard some people say with a 20 gauge and tss they won’t hesitate at 75 yards if they have to. Nice bird.. congrats.

Thanx so much for all the videos/info Dale, you have unlocked success for me this year, i took #4 gobbler for 2022 this morning! And it was with a single shot 20gauge i got from my grandpa as a teenager. Over the years i have taken more than 12 gobblers but most were suicide gobblers or i used woodsmanship. Your info has connected so many dots and that feels like a major breakthrough for me....you deserve credit! Thanx and enjoy your season!

Congratulations on your first bird of the season it seems like here in pa that the activity is slow this year our youth season starts next Saturday the 23rd and opening of state wide is the 30th hopefully it just starts getting right good luck on the rest of your season

@@garrettstraffon608 I’m from south east pa 4c northern lehigh county the turkey population isn’t that good here better in western pa where your from we get on some birds here the problem here is too much hunting pressure too easy to access are game lands it was better years ago before they put all these access roads in I took vacation the 3rd week when you can hunt all day I thought about going to Mckean county to hunt the allegany national forest for that week good luck this spring gobbler season

I live in Florida I got my two. But it was very tuff this year. I got one on the third day. An just got my second one. On with one week left. But I hunted hard and a lot. It was a tuff year.

I would loved having this information in the late 80's when i thought i was ready to Turkey hunt. Trial and error is a slow process with limited time and season length.

MIDDAY MIDDAY!! In NC I called my daughter in a 23 lb with 1 3/8 spurs & 11” beard on 1st day youth season. We arrived at 12:00 & 12:30 I was on his neck . We were back in the Mtn too & that bird was running the ridge lookin for hens on that hillside. I repeated the same thing on opening day regular season. I shot at 11:52. Mine wasn’t no where as big. 8 1/2 beard and 3/4 spurs only 17lbs but it was a great hunt. Give midday or late morning a try !!

Man I wish we could hunt them past noon here in West Virginia!! Season opens Monday, but I've killed several around 11 1130... Have a saying "if he gobbles after 9 he's mine" and I hate having to pull out at noon. Not sure what Virginia's laws are on hunting times??

Beautiful Turkey Matt. I love your videos. They are so informative, and I have learned a lot from your channel. I was out turkey hunting this morning here in Idaho and had a tom at 50 yards walkthrough where I was sitting. I tried soft calling to him to bring him closer, but he ignored it as if he did not hear it. Any ideas on why?

Season for me opens Monday I can't wait. My second year turkey hunting been practicing all year long calling. I gotta tell ya after watching your videos I feel 100x more confident I'm not leaving without one. I got the ol sly slate and box call to they sound great I mean they sound awsome! Yes sir that tss will make a believer out of ya. I killed one this season myself 65 yards with my 20 gauge. #9 rouge tss. Don’t like to normally take shots that far…….. but had to do what I had to do. He was stone dead…… no flopping. Thanks for your video’s and stay safe. God bless.

Congrats i think this coming week will be easier. I've been out ever day this week heard birds but hens are cock blocking me here in va. Not to worried I'm on vacation till may 2 :)
