My friend brushed her teeth with tap water and ate anything. She was sick for a week. I used mineral water for everything and I didn’t get sick

My suggestion is to work with a local tour company! I just got back from a trip with Soul of Egypt. They provided accommodations, transportation to sites, a guide, an Egyptologist, and a security detail! Beautiful experience! Toilet tip provides $ for faamilies to live on and is equivalent to 50cents! Please do not gamble with brushing teeth with tap water!! Most have an intense reaction!

I get too sick in Egypt in the past. Yeah, you should brush your teeth with bottled water. In general, you are putting your digestive system at risk in Egypt, because the government doesn't stress hygien enough. They should have like a hygiene rating system for establishments that puts pressure on business that are up to inspection to fix it fast or close. 30% of Egyptians have health issues over that. You risk yourself as a tourist, then, if the locals have it.

As an Egyptian citizen, I must say that I strongly dislike many aspects of life in Egypt. I wouldn't recommend visiting certain sights, like the pyramids, if you're looking for a high-quality experience. For a better experience, you might consider going to El Sahel El Shamaly (Marsa Matrouh). This area caters to wealthier visitors and offers beautiful beaches, luxurious amenities, and impressive buildings. The waters there are some of the best you'll ever see. On the other hand, many places in Egypt can be disappointing. Dirty bathrooms, poor food quality that can make you ill, and aggressive salesmen are common issues. Despite these problems, I want to emphasize that the people of Egypt are among the best you'll ever meet. We warmly welcome everyone to our country.

Hi Omar! I’m about to go to Egypt for 3 weeks and I’ve been wanting to ask folks if there is anything I should or shouldn’t do to be a good guest? My partner and I are both American and I know we do not have the best reputation for being respectful travelers, is there anything westerners do when visiting that particularly annoy you?

Headache could be from the air pollution. I am scouring blogs for more info on this. The air pollution in Cairo and Aswan is reported to be extremely high and often in dangerous levels, but rarely someone mentions it. That is very odd. Egypt is on my bucket list since high school and I simply must go, but the air pollution freaks me out.

I am living in Egypt, you can take an uber to the pyramids, the entrance price is 550 egp, then you can ride a camel or a horse for like 150 to 250 per hour, then there are many freelance guides who offer their services, you can negotiate a rate with them, it depends on the time they spend with you, a hour will cost like 150 to 250 pounds i geuss. If you book trough an agency it will be more expensive but you will know what to expect up front :)

You say that newer eSIM-only iPhones don't work in Egypt because they don't support eSIMs. Then you say that you used Airalo to buy data, but Airalo uses eSIMs too (when I traveled to Italy, I purchased data through Airalo which installed as an eSIM on my iPhone). My wife and I both own newer iPhones that don't have physical SIM card slots. And we are both on an unlimited international plan. Will we not be able to use our phones in Egypt?
