Excelente! ahora que desgraciadamente se nos acaba de ir Paco para siempre,tendrá tiempo para hacer un compendio y asombrarse del extraordinario legado que ha dejado en todo el planeta,como este chaval ruso que es un auténtico portento.Grisha,si alguien te critica es por pura envidia,no lo dudes,llevo muchos años tocando y me dejas alucinado.A Paco también se hincharon de criticarlo hasta que no tuvieron más remedio que aceptar que era un genio,pero algunos envidiosos patológicos como Narciso Yepes o Andres Segovia,que no le llegaban a la suela de los zapatos,jamás fueron capaces de reconocerlo.

Definitely impressive from a technical standpoint! I think the main problem is not even the speed, but that it has been stripped of accentuation and dynamics, so it all blurs together. And Paco's version is just so perfect, anything is going to look lackluster in comparison. Still really impressive though.... Impetu is such a cool piece!!

That's ridiculously fast! What's wierd is that I timed grisha against paco playing impetu and grish was 1-2 seconds faster yet he sound like a fucking F16 breaking sound!

i saw this video along with Paco's rendition a little less then a year ago when i was getting into flamenco. i was very surprised by the amount of dislikes, however, as i get to know more about flamenco, i begin to see why this is so. I am talking about this particular video, Grisha is amazing

After listening to Mario Escudero's version of his own composition on his LP and live KZbin vid, it's pretty clear that GG is playing his version of Paco's version. Almost rather than a version of the music itself. But it's still amazing and beautifully played. And in some sense Paco is like Sinatra. Once he does a song (in this case piece), THAT's the way it is phrased.

Very good interpretation, i prefer the one's from Paco De Lucìa; i think that this guy have less feeling and just try to play hard and speedy, but the feeling of flamenco is not to play hard, Paco De Lucìa has a very excellent interpretation of the Flamenco's feeling: Moreover this interpretation is good. =)

Paco didn't interpret flamenco - he IS flamenco

Paco often plays as if he's on the edge of his technical abilities, not to say that Paco's sound is really dry. This guy plays such that the most difficult pieces of Paco look easy for him and with much more smooth and bright sound. Grisha is just more technically gifted, plus, he understands flamenco really well (far better that a lot of contemporary spanish players)

Too rushed, like he had too much caffeine or something - just for the sake of impressing with speed, at the expense of the expression of the music. There are many more people - even amateurs, of all nationalities - who might not have the speed but play this piece better. Playing "hard and speedy" (as someone said below) leaves me stone cold.

I think people would judge him less harshly if he was spanish born, preferably in andalucia lol. And I think alot of people saying his playing has no soul, has some very small merit, bit is definatly tinged with jealousy of his skills

Grisha is a fine player but I find it difficult to take root music that was played by people rebelling against oppression and translating into solo pieces contrived by fast playing and use of chord extension and substitution in an attempt to impress rather than convey emotion.

Paco is a double edge sword on one side he brought the sound of flamenco to a larger audience but on the side he created a army of players who don't know where flamenco comes from and have lost the connection with the soul and emotion. Sometimes music sounds better raw with less technical training and more soulful expression.please go search for players like Melchor Paddilla niño Mario and feel the vibe

The artist is trying too hard, I can't really feel the flamenco. de Lucia's performance flows much more smoothly and manages to get the message across, I just don't feel that from this guy. Nonetheless an impressive perfomance.

The same people might not admit Jesse Van Ruller or Louis Stewart can be a great jazz guitarist because their not American. Absurd. For example, Paco de Lucia was not a gypsy, but he could accompany singers as well as any gypsy guitarist.

There are a lot great flamenco guitarrists who are not gypsys, like Vicente Amigo. It's all about learning the style, but obviously if you learn it from the source you are going to sound way more in style (flamenco, in this case). Goryachev playes incredibly good, incredibly clean, and incredibly fast, but there's something that makes him not sound quite like flamenco. Most likely is in his way of keeping the rythm (el compás), he seems to move it in a different way than flamenco guitarrists and closer to classical guitarrists, but that doesn't make him in any way a bad musician.
