Maybe those 25 down thumbs came from aficionados who love flamenco puro (pueblo flamenco, the pure old style) and know that Grisha could never play that. Nor wants to. Search for Melchor de Marchena, Diego del Gastor, Dieguito de Morón, Manolo de Huelva, Perico del Lunar, et. al.

It's called a "sound port". It's used in some of high end guitars, it directs the sound waves towards the player. It basically allows you to hear your playing better & can affect tonality. I have an old Lucida Artista 755 model that has a crack in the back, to me that's a "sound port" also... that developed naturally! The playing energy, dry air & lack of proper humidity created it!

many people prefer to live in ignorance because of the simplicity. When you listen to real music it opens your mind and forces you to consider the world as it really is, for many people this feels uncomfortable and so they go back to music with no meaning, just a rhythm (sometimes not even that) repeated over and over again like the thoughts in their mind.

@jsanchezpcr708 Some flamenco guitarists use that kind of pattern, but watch the video more closely. Grisha is using his pinky. Also check Noad's "Playing the Guitar" p. 168. Using all four fingers is the orthodox technique in the genre.

Grisha is one of the best examples of virtuoso. But there is no debate on how good he is as a flamenco guitarist. He is not a flamenco guitarist, for it is different to play somebody's bulería from to play por bulerías, por soleá... It is this ability which primarily defines a flamenco guitarist. As Master Sabicas said: a flamenco guitarist is three careers in one: solo (your compositions), play for dancers and for singers. Old cultures sometimes surprise us. We cannot change them from outside.
