You are very welcome my man. It has been a good tool for us. we started designing things to work in conjunction with the 3" cutter as often as possible if you can believe that.

Thanks for watching Tyler, it is a monster. It certainly commands respect.

I used to own one just like that, same model # anyway, I think they have some small changes. I sold it off when I stopped making my own panel doors in my cabinet shop. But lately I've been thinking about doing bodies and necks this same way. Just got another one from a buddy of mine. Just gotta get the cutter and rub collar and I'm on my way.

It is kind of an expensive tool for what we actually do with it but the ability to have 90 degree sides on a 1.5" neck blank is what we wanted. There is no router table I know that could pull this off as easily as the shaper. You will totally dig it

I have this shaper. Just bought for template cutting. Bought the router bit adapter and it’s just not fast enough to make clean passes. Even Limba and mahogany with a new spiral router bit ...ruins neck blanks. My 200.00 router and router table is way better, but they run at 20,000 rpm not 10,000 like this machine. Sellling mine immediately

Don't know what to tell you, I love mine

I know it’s been a while; but, a shaper most likely uses 3” cuter heads. I don’t know about you but, I would never run a 3” router bit at 20,000 rpm. On a router table.
@williamrea29743 жыл бұрын
@@angelamonteleone510 been doing 20000 rpm on a regular router table for 30 years.

How do you bind and cut the arm and belly contours?
@TexasToastGuitars7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Zack, if you are interested I'll do a binding video.

That would be amazing! Btw, I really enjoy your fabric top videos, very informative. It is nice seeing what professionals use with great results rather than trusting online forums.

Thanks again amigo, you will have to come to the shop and have a beer with us someday.

So did the binding video ever get made? Interested in seeing that process.
@scottestes77686 жыл бұрын
Probably a hard to answer question, but what's the total cost of the equipment in your shop? Thanks, you rock!
@TexasToastGuitars6 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, It's a tough one, you know how it is... it took a long time to acquire the tools we use. Some of them we paid new prices for and some we got good deals from the used market. I'll be doing a series of videos called 50 Tools You Need To Build Guitars and we will dive into the pricing as well. Thanks for watching

You really should remove the fence assembly from the shaper it's not needed and just gets in the way.Try taking the whole fence assembly off and start by using a starting pin that's how free hand shaping is done.

Thanks Tom, We discovered this same thing. Well, except for the "starter pin"... those are for putos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3uciXmQqqd-Y6c

what speed did you use?
@TexasToastGuitars6 жыл бұрын
I use the 10000 rpm setting more often than not. Of course, you should always match your feeds and speeds to your own work piece.
@mocchay34266 жыл бұрын
with 4 inch diameter cutter or above, you still use the 10000rpm setting?
@TexasToastGuitars6 жыл бұрын
The cutting head I use is 3" and rated for 10000 by the manufacturer.
@mocchay34266 жыл бұрын
do you have speed chart (recommendation) match diameter of cutter head?i use 8300RPM setting with 4 inch cutter head and the machine is shaken. I have to reduce to 5800rpm. i don't know why.
@TexasToastGuitars6 жыл бұрын
I don't have any information like that. Have you contacted the manufacture of your shaper? I'm pretty much just a guy in his garage building guitars.
