Also, as far as I know, Japan is one of the best countries in recycling, so the amount of plastic wrapping is not really a problem in there.

Dear Rhea, thanks a lot for the new vlog - cosy and calm (and delicious), as usual. :-) I'd also like to comment on the plastic issue that other guys here have already mentioned. Another vlogger from Japan that I watch has been ordering fruit and vegetables from farmers - they come in simple cardboard boxes, without any plastic involved. So if you're maybe interested in ways to reduce plastic (and to support farmers), this might be a way to go. :-) Take care! Looking forward to your next video.

Great suggestion! I wanted to bring that up too. Shopping in farmers markets can now be done via delivery services with minimal use of or no plastic at all. ☺️

Ah, I wasn't sure about whether there are any farmers' markets in Japan - well, that's brillant. :) I also wonder if there are shops with organic food and package free shops in Japan. Here in Western Europe it's becoming more and more appealing to people.

I am a foreigner who stays in Japan. When I shop in local store, the vegi is not wrapped in plastic. But when I shop in the supermarket, usually they are being wrapped "nicely and neatly"... So I tent to shop in local vegi store for vegetable
@SilveryDew
@SilveryDew 3 жыл бұрын
@@LinnainJapan Great. :-) Who needs plastic anyway - it just makes the food inside look clean and neat but how can one know where this food has been before, who has touched it etc. One should wash the fruit/veg whether it comes in plastic or not, I guess. :-)) And when you look at it that way, there's no difference whether it was wrapped in plastic or not, it might always be dirty. The only difference is the rubbish one produces by choosing plastic.

@@khankhattak. you can be VERY productive even whilst at home. Being stuck at home is no excuse to be lazy, that’s simply your choice. I advise you to do better for yourself. Laziness is a terrible trait. While stuck at home you can revamp your house (do small or big renovations around your home, look through everything you have such as keepsakes and things stuck in your closet and empty it out to throw away or donate or sell, etc) , you can join online webinars and courses to pursue a degree or license or to learn a new trade or skill or language...in 8 months you could’ve achieved basic fluency in another language, you can work on yourself via new exercise regimes, you can learn new skills and hobbies (drawing, coding, website building, crocheting, puzzles, reading, coloring, stretching and yoga, cooking and baking, music,etc) . There is SO MUCH to do while being inside. You’re just letting life go by you instead of living it to the fullest. Hope this motivates you, maybe? 🤗🤗👌🏻

@@GlorifiedArchitect Japan’s definition of recycling is a bit misleading since it includes incineration, which is highly damaging to the environment. Japan also has a very high percentage of micro plastic in the ocean surrounding its borders...so clearly recycling is not eliminating the problem. Just because as individuals we sort our trash and plastics doesn’t mean the government actually carries through on their end.

@sjsk

@@NubePeluda Recycling has a large environmental impact and financial cost. The amount of energy and resources it takes to recycle plastic outweigh any benefits. Buying individual drinks in cartons is so thoughtless and Rhea should be more mindful of her buying habits. If we all do our bit we can help the environment.
