I saw you use the sweetened condensed milk. You also buy caramel. I have the perfect idea that I use to make caramel without opening the the can of SCM. Take the can of milk and DO NOT OPEN. Put it in a tall pan, add enough water to cover at least 3 in. Bring water to boil and continue to boil for 3 hours. Do not open can it cools. Enjoy.

I have a grill pan. I usually spray it with olive oil spray b4 using. I see that you are very much into health. I notice that you use a lot of different sauces when you cook and a lot of oil. I use it too when my grandchildren come for Chinese food. My husband would not eat it. Sauces are not healthy either they have loads of sugar and garbage. Once in a while, it is ok. Thanks for a wonderful and informative video.

@@SonyasPrep indeed, my grandma used to do the same, the soup was thickened with potato starch slurry, served warm. The best with pancake noodles (thin crepe-style pancakes cut into stripes. Also great way to use any leftover crepes). Try apple soup with a pinch of cinnamon, or strawberry soup😊 (cut apples/strawberries/other fruit into small cubes to leave them in the soup)

Sonya, I would suggest that once you use your seasonings out of those cute little seasonings jars that you put them in the sink to rinse out and then dishwasher them. Also, I would of put the stickers of what the seasonings were on the top because the tops are normally not dishwasher safe. Otherwise, a big purchase for you would be a Cricut Machine and the supplies you would need to make your own labels. I just made the big purchase of the Cricut Machine and the supplies to do my own labels. I also did the big order of OXO Containers too and hopefully as I get my kitchen in order it will be organized like your kitchen.

@@SonyasPrep I also wanted to let you know that I may be of another faith but, I wholly enjoy your videos. I have been watching several ladies who do organizational stuff and watching their kitchen videos especially well. Someone I suggest is Emily Norris and she may be from the UK but her cleaning and organizing videos are wonderful. She recently did a build on to her house and did a custom kitchen. You both have a lot in common with the way your kitchens in some ways are alike. You both give me suggestions and things to do in the kitchen and how to make things a bit easier when finding things to make it a bit easier cooking for your families and how to make it easier for cooking for my own. Also, I did a few of your recipes for Passover and I did a few more recipes from your videos and from 2 other ladies who cook for Passover. I did a few recipes that were non-traditional and when I did them for my family and we had leftovers from each of the dishes. I also bought divided dishes that I got on Amazon. They were glass storage containers that I sent home with my kiddos and their families. When I ordered them I did 3 different colors and my youngest took all of mine because she cleaned out my refrigerator and went home to cook. She is a Home Economics Teacher and anytime Mom has a full refrigerator she raids it and takes all my containers and goes home and dishwasher everything and then cooks up a storm. Within 2 days I have all the containers full and even the ones I bought for her and my deep freezer is filled with those containers. I now have her watching you as well. You are such a blessing to have in our lives as well.

Sonya, if you have ever been to a steakhouse and had the sweet potatoes where the skins were black and the potato flesh was syrupy and yummy, I asked them how to do it. It's no more work, just more time. Poke them a few times with a fork and wrap each one in foil and put on a foil or parchment lined baking pan. Bake at 350° until they are VERY soft when squeezed and the syrup is maybe leaking from the foil. Be patient, it takes 2 to 3 hours depending on the size of the potato but the wait is worth it!

The book sounds like it's a good read! The things you mentioned from the book also fall in line with Indian Ayurvedic advice too. I would also suggest looking into the diets of the 'blue zones' of the world. These are people who live the longest and healthiest. It's interesting what their diets consist of. A lot of health problems are related to what kind of food is eaten, how it's cooked and how it's eaten. Most western countries, to put bluntly, do it all wrong. If you look at eastern/Asian/some middle eastern cuisines and ways of eating, you learn a lot and in turn your body will thank you. Your channel is lovely and watching how you manage your kids and life is just so encouraging to watch!

Sonya, I watched this video a second time today. Just a thought. But, have you ever thought to take the cooked and cooled fruit and put it through a juicer or a Vitamix Blender? Of course the hard parts must come out but, you can take the cooked soft parts and put them through the blender for example and it will turn it into a liquid, the you can stain all the solids out over the pot or pitcher and use more of the product. Then, you can take the pulp and add it into a electric composter like the “Pela Earth Lomi” which I just got and then add other food scraps to it and then not throw so much into the trash after cooking?

Hello there Sonya. I have not comment in a while because I have been busy. Now I really love and enjoyed watching your fruit juice banana bread egg rolls meatballs and slow cooked chicken. You are just very resourceful ... Like the idea of marinating chicken overnight. You have sooo many awesome recipes. I have a tendency to lose my best recipes ... Lol. I will write them down but will lose my recipe box. How can I keep all my great recipes together for safe keeping through the years. Again I so enjoy your videos and company. Hope you and entire family is in good health and doing well. Continue to take care of your self. Bye for now !!

The crockpot chicken recipe sounds so good; might try it with cumin, coriander and paprika as the spices. Freezing leftover fruit for compote is a brilliant way to prevent excess food waste; will try it myself. When I have apples or pears which are a bit past their best, I chop them and stew them with a little water, brown sugar and cinnamon or cardamom to get a purée which I serve once cooled with porridge, granola or Greek yoghurt for breakfast. So tasty! Love your blue baking dishes. ❤️

A side comment: we saw the statue of Rambam (Maimonides) in Córdoba, Spain when we visited on holiday. Córdoba was his birthplace.

Your food all looks so good. I could definitely go for the egg rolls (which we call spring rolls in the UK)they can be a bit greasy but your method looks great.

So you only have spring rolls and no egg rolls? North America has both.

Never heard them called egg rolls. No idea why :) So what is the difference between a spring and an egg roll?

@@AyslhynSpring rolls generally contain only vegetables, no meat. Egg rolls contain both. Also, the wrapper is thinner for spring rolls.

@@AyslhynFor the most part an eggroll is bigger and fatter with filling consisting mostly of cabbage and pork or other variations of vegetables as well. Spring rolls have a thinner wrapper than the eggroll, and is usually filled with vegetables. But of course there are variations such as shrimp spring roll but the original is simply vegetables.
