I love to cook so I'd cook for both my parents until Mum passed away. I still cooked the same amount and put them in Dad's freezer as healthier freezer meals. Dad passed away 13 months after Mum so it's just me and I am on a mainly liquid diet due to medical issues and I miss cooking. I've just adopted two little cavoodle puppies so I'm researching different things I can cook to supplement their vet advised diet.

For my family of three we spend probably close to what you just spent in a month. However, we did just move to a different state so I am interested to see how our grocery budget changes because prices do vary from location to location. For example, milk where we are now is half the price of what it was where we lived before. I on the downside. The Walmart here is smaller than the one that we used to go to so some of the items that we are used to buying we are having to switch for alternative items or purchase at a different store where it cost more. We have not done a full grocery trip yet to really be able to compare, just living off the food we brought with us.
@susanbrown6458 Жыл бұрын
I think if you had a list to stick to that would help. Also, buying foods that are for both of you instead of separate meals. If it's not healthy for you, it's not healthy for her. There was alot of prepackaged and preportioned itens which are more expensive than buying in bulk and separating yourself, or buying fresh ingredients and making yourself (homemade mac and cheese os so easy and quick). Oatmeal with berries instead of boxed cereals. A small box of Poptarts, and only offer one pastry at a time (or even 1/2) as a treat or snack... Multi grain bread will be more nutrient dense and filling. I know you pay attention to labels and nutrition for yourself, but you should for Scarlett also--nothing to do with weight, but how the body will function later in life. She's likely to have health problems as an adult from so much processed food, which she'll struggle to correct because her tastes are so strongly tied to these things, but if you start out now to swap out for less processed, more nutrient-dense foods, she'll grow with preferences for healthy items. It'll be much less expensive as well

Idk how anyone can do their grocery shopping at target. I went there and omfg 😱😱😱 the prices of stuff was outrageously expensive and way over priced. I'm absolutely loving that you can afford to shop there because that tells me you're killing it momma, good job. Being a single momma is definitely hard so I'm super proud of you for being able to afford good food for Scarlett, a nice place to live and signing her up to do extra curricular activities. You seriously are doing such a job. I'm a single momma as well to one son but unfortunately a series of very unfortunate events took place with my health and disabled me so I'm struggling extremely badly financially. Especially because the cost of living has gone up so much just in the last 3 yrs. Electricity has really gone up in price, gas is really high and continuing to get higher again and the cost of food is absolutely ridiculous and there's zero reason it should be as high as it is. I thankfully live in a country that helps their less fortunate people such as the disabled and elderly so I do get assistance on food however I only receive $250 dollars (which I'm beyond grateful and appreciative for. I know it could be zero help so I definitely don't take it for granted and I'm just extremely thankful for the help) for the whole month for my son and I so I have to bargain shop. It has been really hard to make due on such a tight budget so when I see other fellow single moms doing so well it really makes me happy for them. I don't wish this life on my worst enemy so I'm definitely a huge cheerleader for others and I always love to see people doing good. ❤❤❤

Actually Target is cheaper on most items than my 2 grocery chains and Walmart. Our Kroger store City market up Charges by 33% in order to afford to give a “fuel discount”, however I don’t spend enough to get a discount since I’m a single person. So by shopping there I just end up paying more for items and it’s the same at Safeway.
@queenbee8235 Жыл бұрын
@@stephanieburgess8217 wow that's awesome, here where I live target is by far more expensive than Walmart. We don't have Kroger's here so I have no clue how expensive it is. Walmart and Aldi are our best priced places to shop.
