For your $89 groceries here in the Bahamas it would have probably been about $180 here or more and l agree food prices are high or getting higher...l've learnt to cook in bulk and make casserole dishes, sauces such as bolognese and hearty soups with side dishes of mixed veggies & rice mixed to stretch and be More nutritious

I love Blackberry Jam and my favorite is Red Plum jam. You are right, groceries are outrageous and only getting worse. I like to buy dry pinto beans and put them in my pioneer woman crock pot, I use a 32 oz box of chicken broth to about 2 cups washed and rinsed beans, alitte water, black pepper, alitte rubbed sage, garlic and onion powder and if I have some, I cut ip half pkg. Smoked bacon and if I don't I might have some ham. Its so good with cornbread or even served over rice. I bought a little rice cooker at Walmart a couple yrs ago. The yelliw rice pkgs are good. I believe we are going to have to find ways to save every penny like they did during the great depression. God be with us all and help us survive the rough times ahead 🙏 🙌

Melissa, if you move your mini-split out of the back of the storage lift onto an open wall, you’ll have plenty of air circulation and ample heat. The mini-split won’t work well if there’s stuff blocking it, and can pose a fire hazard. You might talk to your mom about getting that moved to an open wall! Stay safe!!😇😇😇😇

I use Imperfect Foods/Misfits every week to keep my food bill lower. As long as you spend $60 minimum, delivery to your front door is free, and I get all my produce, some of my dairy, some of my meats, most of my bread, snacks & deserts, and a lot of my beverages from them. The same items at the grocery store is about $25-30 more expensive. Then I cook about 4 servings at a time, freeze some and refrigerate the rest, so I always have a couple of leftovers I can take with me or heat up in a hurry. That savings adds up. They have a lot of organic, non GMO, and plant based, too.

BRRRRRR. In CA where my cousin has 40 acres, she has to have private property and no trespassing signs up. If someone comes on your property and you do not have those signs they can say they didn’t know and it is for legal purposes! They had a break in and were told this by the law. Good haul at the grocery!! Stay warm! Take care. 😊❤️

Food prices are really high in my area too. Nevertheless, there are a few things I probably don't have to buy but so far have been fortunate enough to be able to keep them on my grocery list. Drip coffee, a couple of varieties I love from Folgers and heavy whipping cream. Also, Costco's frozen marinated salmon and beer battered cod. Those I can throw in the air fryer because they are ready to cook and are done in twenty minutes or less. To me they are better tasting than those I can get from the grocery. Of course that's a matter of opinion.

Can't you toast in your Ninja oven? Pre-shredded cheese? They not only shred it, but they also coat it with something to keep it from clumping, then it goes in that bigger bag and finally, they charge you more. Shred it yourself, or cut it up. No fruit? The only vegetable was a can of peas? Eggs are inexpensive. Hard cook some, then they're easy to grab and eat. Is anyone monitoring your glucose or A1C? Blood pressure? Did you check to see if you qualify for free or low-cost internet? There are such programs in East TN. Also, the library might have information. Have you serviced the minisplit?

@@lindayaya59 There are a lot of "empty calories" there. SO much sugar and salt. Chemicals. I didn't know until just now that canned peas have sugar and salt added. Even the peanut butter has sugar and hydrogenated oil added to it along with some other things. (I didn't eat peanut butter until I found the kind with just peanuts and a little salt. I use raisins rather than jelly which is also a lot of sugar.) But she's a grown woman, isn't she?

Holy crap I need to take you grocery shopping! Lol I know things have went up, but I still use coupons and I go to target , Aldi and sometimes Kroger. Never do Walmart, even though they say they have stop cheaper , no one looks at the ounces or that stuff to see if you are getting a real deal. Target I use for cereal and stuff like that. I also use them if I have to buy dog treats and dog food. We do real food for my babes and so much cheaper and also they don't eat as much and it's cheaper! I use Kroger for my Pepsi an water and some veggies . I also like using the deli because it's just me and my hubby, so I don't buy a pound of meat . We get like 2 different ones and we only order 1/3 PD of each . Then Aldi I do my cheeses there and chips , bread and other stuff. I always buy 3 containers of meat as well. The burger I get almost 2 pounds then divide it up and put it in the freezer. Same with chicken. Then I will typically get a roast and half is good for one meal. If I want steak or something special, I will usually by that on the day. But I can say , what you bought today , should have been no more than 50 bucks ! Even with out coupons. Having a larger freezer you can easily pack a few small things of meat, and maybe put a serving of veggies in small bags . Stuff like that. The way we eat better is if we buy it, separate and put it in spots. Even if you can only put 4 small meals in freezer. You can put 2 in the fridge , and not worry ! Just try it sometime. Oh if you get a target red card, I think right now they are giving you a 50 dollar coupon for 50 dollars or more at target . Plus you get another 5 percent off your order , plus coupons on their own website and such. I would walk in target with a good list, before coupons it would be easy 70 up. Walking out I would easily get 30 plus dollars back in coupons !

I'm single. I frequently cook for 4 and freeze what I won't eat right away. I love having meals ready to heat and eat, especially when I know what's in them. I also got into curbside during the pandemic. I use it part of the time now because it avoids impulse purchases. It's also easier to read labels online, so I can pay attention to more things.

Grocery prices are insane. I am going through a divorce…I have a full-time job as a FA ✈️ and I have to pick up Nursing jobs just to buy groceries for me and my girls. I am soo Grateful to have an Aldi in my area because that is the only grocery store that I will shop at. When it comes to soap, body wash I will use coupons with gift cards that you get when you buy 3/$15 in a gift card I use that gift card with coupons and the Target rewards card and I will have $250 in name brand soaps, essentials and only spend $50 and I stock up when sales it with coupons. I had to learn to become thrifty.

Looks like you actually did pretty well for your 89 dollars. Just getting out and walking around the store must be enjoyable so that must count for something when you think about getting delivery. Kind of a wash between the price of the gas and the cost of the tip. Love a p.b and j. once in a while and love Ritz and peanut butter for snacks or with soup for a meal.

I revert to the old way of shopping by ad shopping, getting generic if possible, instead of soda, im back to kool-aid and i actually like it. I buy sale items only keeping in mind what ill be cooking in the future. Like when pasta is 88cents, I'll stock up. I live in a studio so i get creative to store it. I stock on canned goods that dont expire right away when on sale. I dont skimp on my bread unless the day old bread store has something good but i take half the loaf and freeze it. Most great value brands are good likecsugar, flour, etc, yogurt, snacks. When canned soups go on sale, I'll stock up for crockpot meals. Buying meat is super tough. So i pick a decent size roast, at home i will cut it into a two serving size for a pot roast, cut a few slices for a round steak meal and the rest i cut into stew meat sizes. I love the crockpot! Any oven recipe you have can be converted to your crockpot. I recommend a crockpot with tomes like 4, 6, 8, and 10hrs then it switches to warm as opposed to a hi/low one. Perfect for tiny homes and singles or couple. I like left overs cause they end up as lunch at work or a dinner later on. When i move away from SD, i plan to buy a small efficient freezer which can easily sit outside and you cover with a beautiful tablecloth and no one knows! But by taking a month of bargain shopping at different stores, you literally can stretch your grocery budget to work. Buy freezer bags at dollar store and any other foods you like there. But always treat yourself to at least one special item; for me its chocolate cherry chunk frozen yogurt or ice cream. I do have a soda stream from years ago so i make my own which is much better for you because it doesnt contain high fructose corn syrup, the absolute worse kind as it doesnt break down in your body. If you like flavored carbinated water, you can make that too. I bottle of flavor at Walmart is about $5.50 but depending on your personal taste as you experiment, that bottle will make me 12 16oz sodas. I use any reusable bottles i have too so if i buy a bottled water, i save it to put soda in, etc. You can exchange your carbination canister just like youd exchange your propane tank too. My soda stream, crockpot, Goodwill find George Foreman indoor grill, and my toaster over all get used. The only thing i need is a hot plate but so far, the microwave works. My electric bill isn’t expensive either because these appliances use very little. I will buy a new, energy efficient freezer tho when the time comes. But Melissa, i too appreciate and use Walmart delivery when i can or at least pickup especially with weather stuff and my schedule. I noticed they are doing something like Amazon's subscribr and save! They happen to be cheaper on dog food so I'll probably give their program a try.

Hi Melissa, I buy that walmart ground beef too. I get the 3 pack grass fed because it’s plenty for my husband & I and the price is really good for 3. It really is chilly there. Our night time temps last night dropped to the high 30’s. I live in the California desert. Food is expensive here too. I buy organic chicken, ground Turkey & beef and veggies frozen & fresh every time I go to the market. I buy low carb tortillas for my morning eggs and low fat cheese & plain yogurt and some fruits it’s all usually just over $100. My favorite chips are the Boulder brand made with olive oil or avocado oil. (I eat way too many of them 😂). The days I have to buy extra things the bill is way more…🫣we do eat out too as our outings, but I make sure to use up all the food we buy for home.

I hope people are paying attention to the election choices-locally and federally. Things are not going to change(except to get worse) until the governments making decisions change. I keep my grocery receipts and most of us buy the same items each month. The prices have gone up between 25% and 30% in the last couple of years .My income has not increased at all. If you have access to an Aldi's you might want to try it. I do even better there than Walmart. I buy the organic, grass fed beef and it is $1.25 cheaper at Aldi's. As for the no trespassing signs could it be that over 12 million immigrants need a place to go? If each state divided that many people equally each state would get 250,000 or 3 sold out football stadiums. They get free groceries and free everything else. Everyone, please pay attention to elections.

I used to have access to Bountiful Baskets which is a food coop. I think it was $18 and I would come home with a bunch of produce, some of which I'd never had before. I would take about a month to use it all because it was just me. Sadly the closest one now is about an hour away, I really miss it. I say I "lean vegetarian". My staples are also eggs and cheese, also yogurt (plain, nonfat Greek). There are always multiple bags of frozen fruit and vegetables in the freezer. I like to make my own bread, but a lot of what I use is inexpensive whole grain from the store because I only use a slice at a time and not necessarily every day. I went to Walmart yesterday. I came home with apples, clementines, salad, whole wheat bread, almond milk, yogurt and eggs. FWIW, I wasn't being treated for any medical issues or taking any supplements, until I was 71.
