Would working with burlap sacks be anymore difficult ?
@TheLeatherLadyLLC10 күн бұрын
No, BUT burlap is a looser weave and I would suggest as soon as you cut the holes to seal the ends immediately with like light melted was or like a Fabric FRAY CHECK product to stop fraying. that would be my only concern. I wouldn't have a plan to put a lot of stress on the grommets in burlap though as burlap is strong but if it is old the fabric could be deteriorating. I hope this helped and I greatly appreciate that you watched my video :)

@@TheLeatherLadyLLC My plan with the burlap is to hang burlap coffee sacks like a curtain as a backdrop on a track system for a video production. Would that work or is that a bad idea ?

@@frederickfrei8286 that sounds like a fantastic Idea, and when you finish it.. I would LOVE to see a pic :)

Nice video. I have a question: I brought the brads with no washers. Can they be used without washers, plan to use on card stock???
@TheLeatherLadyLLC Жыл бұрын
Hello, unfortunately you need both pieces to make a grommet work. I am sure you could use them on a card stock if the card stock is heavy enough as otherwise it may just rip right through it. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to email me at theletherladyllc@gmail.com. Good luck with your project :)

Which way up does the washer go please?
@TheLeatherLadyLLC2 жыл бұрын
The long piece should face down to the INSIDE where you don’t want to see the ugly side

I think the question was should you put the flat washer rounded side up or down. Thanks!

Patty, thanks for the great video on grommets. Please explain which side of the washer faces outside at 10:45 time stamp. You went too fast at this point without clarification. Thanks.

there are 2 parts to a grommet. The part that has sides to it (looks like a volcano) lol... then you have the FLAT round piece. the grommet piece with the SIDES IS YOUR TOP (volcano piece). so you want the FLAT piece INSIDE what ever you are working on. I hope that helpped. Thank you for the question.. I love people asking or sharing. My quality isn't very good on the video.. but hoping to get new equipment in 2024 :)

how about sheep skin? I bought a hide to make seat saver.?
@TheLeatherLadyLLC2 жыл бұрын
yes you can do this with sheepskin too. You may have to trim around the grommet a little once the grommet is set

yes true, just make sure if using fabric that the fabric is not flammable or can uphold due to the heat

I can’t believe that you punched your hole ontop of the metal anvil. That is a sure fired way of damaging your tools.

You are correct and Thank you for the judging me... I have mentioned In the video and other videos explaining to WHY I was using it this one time...and that it isn't a common way. Thank you for sharing your opinions...

Are you hitting a hole punch into a metal surface? 😮😮
@TheLeatherLadyLLC Жыл бұрын
yes in fact I am. 🙂 I have used wood, a pounding board, Cutting board or even yes metal metal for over 20+ years.. NEVER had an issue as I also know how to sharpen my tools. It is important for me teach in many ways for people to be able to use what they have at home if needed and not to have to spend a ton of money. There are many ways to do leather work not just one. Thank you for your comment.
