I can’t believe how much Major looks like my Yorkie Gabriel. I keep him in a full coat and this video was very helpful, I am trying to learn grooming techniques and it is hard to find videos and grooming a full coat Yorkie. I have never tried the knitting needle, I was impressed by how you did the back part!

May I ask you pls..so when bathing long haired yorkies you don't rub in there hair the shampoo.?if I'm not mistaken you've just patted the shampoo on the hair and then rinse

That is correct, I rarely rub the shampoo into a drop coat.

Hi awesome video. Question if you don’t trim the under layer, how do you keep the pee from smelling ? Do you constantly bath him ?? I have a male yorkie and 3 days after he starts smelling also when walking him he brings all the leaves and branches with him 😂😂 any advise will help I was told not to ever let him trim his body with a machine and only use scissors with him. Males with full coat often time squat and actually stay cleaner with a full coat. But each one is an individual, so adjustments are made as needed.

I rarely ever brush before the bath. I find that brushing a clean conditioned coat is best. The secret is to make sure that the coat is completely brushed and combed out properly the same day as the bath.

Do you ever cut the bottom edge of the coat or just let it trail? I have an 8 yr old Biewer, she’s tiny and I want to trim her coat a bit shorter to keep it out of the dirt. Should it always be cut level with the floor? I also have a bigger Yorkie who is 2-yrs old and very rambunctious. AND talk about full coat, he is like a tiny teddy bear. I have been trying to keep him scissor trimmed, but I’m never sure of how to handle the length on him either. His chest is like a lion king and overall the coat is not quite as thick as a Pomeranian (single coat) but approaching that thickness. He’s always trying to get into brambles but I really don’t want him cut down, he’s good about being brushed. Never yelps but he does wiggle a lot! Any reference videos you can think of would be appreciated. Thanks for your channel, you have so much knowledge that you are sharing every day! Thank😍🤩🙏you!

I kinda feel bad for Yorkies.. theyre still dogs they like to play and get dirty and run around and it's like they're kids in permanent church clothes told to stay clean,. They didn't sign up for thst.. I had a Yorkie and when I got him his previous owner was trying to grow out his coat and it was halfway to the ground. He hated being groomed. First thing i did was give him a super short puppy cut and take him for really long adventure walks.. every weekend we went on a 7 mile hike.. That dog hugged me!! Seriously. It was the craziest experience.. I swear he was SO grateful for how I treated him.. he was finally free to have fun. He was so happy. I think it's selfish to keep these dogs hair long for your own personal sanity while hindering the dogs quality of life.. There's no way that dog is running around outside..

I love the way you explained everything as you were doing it. You treated Major so sweet and you were so gentle with him, he looked wonderful when you were finished. HE was such a good boy as you groomed him. I will be ordering those products that you. Used. Maybe you can help me. I have a female Yorkie that will be 2 years old in Nov. She is a Sable and has a beautiful thick coat. I put her top knot up, but she keeps using her feet until she tears it down. I make sure that it isn't pulling anywhere. I just can figure out why she won't leave it alone e. Do you have any suggestions? I would appreciate any advice that you can give. Thank you in advance.

Try to only bring hair up from the center of the eye, not the corner. Keep it up without bows, and definitely without hair clips. Just small dog grooming bands. Make sure that hair is not flopping forward towards the eyes.
