Thinking of going from Black Russian Terrier to Westie next time. It took some time to learn how to groom the BRT, and it would be interesting to learn how to groom a westie. Thanx for this good information and what a nice little dog!

I am newer groomer and I have not done this technique yet. The only wire haired terrier I take care of has been shaved down numerous times and I did what I could for the poor baby. How long does this type of groom take?
@Artero.PetCare.International2 жыл бұрын
It requires patience and concentration so takes it´s time!

Loved this grooming video. Would Artero consider putting one out for the Wire fox terrier?

Any tips on stripping a Westie who’s hair got too long? My problem is not knowing how much hair to strip at a time.

You must be very careful with stripping, pull until only the shedding hair is removed :)

Does that hurt them?
@firefly1733 жыл бұрын
No. It's only the dead coat coming out

@@firefly173 You know dogs do feel pain. Imagine if I were to strip your hair, it’s pulling out the hair which hurts.
@lauralbriar2 жыл бұрын
the hair that is stripped out is only dead coat - it does not hurt them as the root itself is dead - it is the same as brushing your own hair and having the loose ones come away in the brush - so it's not as if someone was "stripping" out your hair at all as Westie (and most terriers rough coat) is not the same as human hair. Of course dogs feel pain - and if this hurt at all, he wouldn't be lying there calmly and allowing it. IF the hair is not stripped, the dead root will stay in the top layer of skin and cause rash and infection and the new coat will not grow in properly - FYI Danielle Dewitt

You can tell when it hurts them. 😞 it’s about the groomers technique and patience

At 5:45, the dog is shaking violently. Not a great experience 😕
@enalloyd31392 жыл бұрын
The dog is shaking bc is in pain, bc the groomer cut the quick of the dogs nails, poor babie and that hair pulling hurts. I tried to do my westie when she was a puppy and she does not like it..poor little guy (girl) on this video.
