Play G major/E minor and then F major/D minor and see how completely different yet correct both sound. Of course remember to go back to the note A no matter what you play.

Henry G3 I wouldn’t say it’s entirely the same a major chord and a minor chord have specific contextual applications. This whole backing track sounds bright and reminiscent of a major chord.

The voicing is not misleading in any way, it is a totally normal and conventional way of voicing an Am7 chord in a band context.

That's wrong, it's Gmaj, alone every minor chord (this backingtrack is an example) is dorian, so A dorian. If you notice Cmaj7 and D7 sit perfectly on this track
