"Freedom for Chechnya"? That's a laugh. The Chechens are fully a part of Russia. Ramzan Kadyrov's government is a legitimate part of the Russian political process, Grozny has been rebuilt, and Chechen units of the Russian Army spearheaded the counterattack on Georgia in 2008.

Bill Howard This is something I observed and talked about in an article in 2012. The modern Western way of war requires a "brave freedom fighter" outfit on the ground which then has to be supported by arms, money, propaganda and if possible an aerial bombing campaign...for humanitarian reasons. We've seen this in various forms in Afghanistan in the 80s, Bosnia, Kosovo, Chechnya, Afghanistan again in 2001, Libya, Syria, and was being planned for Iran too. Iraq was an exception but then Bush had absolutely no intention of sharing the glory of being the conqueror of Baghdad with any guerrilla group.
