My tin foil hat theory after watching this is that through her comatose state, she has realized Charlie and Megan are the killers in a series of murders happening in real life. The doctor and the detective are in cahoots to execute these murders and Lois was onto them. While in the coma she pieced it together in her dreams. In one part of this episode when Megan and Lois are fighting, Megan says some quote about death and it switches to real life and Charlie says the same thing. That has to be hinting at something. I think Grotesquerie probably exists in real life as well.

Well… I was wrong… I think? 😂 Most all signs are pointing toward Megan not being the killer, but there was that ominous dream Lois had where Megan was covered in blood, unless that was an omen that Megan’s bf was going to try to kill her? They’re already establishing that Lois may be able to predict the future, so was that a sign Megan was in danger? Charlie is still a bit sus though the jury is still out.

I think it's interesting the way Lois's subconscious portrayed all the characters. The only ones who were kind of accurate were Lois and Marshall. I just knew when she pulled the plug, Marshall would wake up, but they flipped it on us. Sister Mary in those pumps chomping on a carrot dipped in mayonnaise was something else. Cam granny Red took me out. I'm still reeling from the real world being just as wild as the dream world.

Dreaming of picking red objects often signifies a strong emotional response or a focus on passionate aspects of your life, as red is typically associated with intense feelings like anger, love, desire, or excitement, depending on the context of the dream and your emotions during it. Seeing red in your dreams is likely to be a sign that you have strong emotions about something in your waking life. Highly symbolic, red has a vast array of meanings assigned to it across different cultures: Anger. Warning.

I figured out that it was a dream when her daughter's now husband walked out of the hospital with Lois and it had like a gleaming white light and they got into the antique old car. Also, another thing that gave it away to me was the nurse Redd. And someone that works in healthcare, I always thought this is such an antiquated look and would not be allowed today. I often questioned myself like "what time frame are we living in here?" My mom is also a horror movie lover and watching the show, this was an idea that I proposed to her. She wasn't really receptive but I think it was confirmed tonight.

As soon as somebody said wake up, I knew it it probably wasn't real. I didn't think it was this though. I thought it was a really prolonged dream sequence. The realization was quite shocking for me. I can remember saying to my friend when we were watching certain scenes in previous episodes, this is really out there. People don't act like this. But of course we excused that to just being TV drama, Ryan Murphy, an exaggerated universe.

I still feel like this is a dream! The way she played that old radio next to her, Travis's mullet, and how everyone is still acting all weird.. Maybe it's gonna be a dream within a dream like an Inception type of coma.. Or maybe the Daughters dreaming all of this and Charlie and Megan are her friends that did something to her because she found out they were killers.. I mean she plays a big role in this show too and how she's always eating (like when you're in a dream and hungry or thirsty you can never feel satisfied).. Idk but tht would be cool too!

The first episode, when Lois is frozen, looking at the printer, showing the death pics of the family, then the printer noise MORPHS into RESPIRATOR sounds...as her chief is saying," Lois..LOIS!!"...I think Lois knew about hubby's affair with "nurse Red" because her cops had him followed, but he never knew, but she knew all about them. Love that pilot's clues. In Lois' mind, she is the ONLY one who can crack this case, because bringing in the feds is DEATH,and she's not giving in...this was a crazy episode.

A bit more film theory than color theory, this show feels like it draws heavier inspiration from David Lynch’s work than previous Murphy stuff. Particularly, it often reminds me of Twin Peaks, where red is often a color associated with slipping between this world and the other- the main area of the spirit world is depicted as a maze of red velvet curtains. When it comes to color theory, red is a gory color. It is immediately stimulating to the human brain due to its associations with blood, desire, and rage. These themes, are tonally consistent with cyclical processes of the body, mind or soul. A lot of this show is dealing with cyclical problems in individuals, society, and government. All that to say, I think the color red is a visual cue to when something is directly ‘bleeding’ into Lois’ subconscious. When Sister Meaghan repeats Dr. Charlie verbatim, her face is almost stained red from the blood.

I’ll post here cause I know if I were to post on reddit I would get downvoted to hell for my differing opinion, but I didn’t like 7. Everyone seems to LOVE the episode so I know I am the odd man out/minority. I wanted to be delusional and believe it was all real and there was a supernatural presence causing people to be evil that somehow helped the cult or somehow “possessed” the people in the cult to do these evil deeds 😒. Kind of like the movie Constantine. My theory pretty much happened with the nun and the priest being part of the cult cause I suspected the freaky nun pretty earlier on. People downvote me literally because I say I don’t watch AHS too and I’m not familiar with Ryan Murphy. The only reason I watched Grotesquerie was because it wasn’t part of AHS and it looked really interesting.

Megan is her professional rival and she presented as a Nun in her dream state because Lois views her as a holier than thou person who is actually quite sly and cunning. Marshall confirms this because Megan made complaints about her at work and would not let her enter her hospital room. However, I do not think she is a killer. I think some victims kid from old DV case has been visiting her and retelling her what's going to happen. Cop Megan was informed a DV victims family was suing the PD for negligence... so me thinks its someone else altogether.

Ryan Murphy drives me insane, just as he did with AHS. I have enjoyed precisely ONE episodes of the seven I've seen of this series. The bizarre motel where everyone seemed to be a homicidal maniac with a firearm EXCEPT the woman we are expected to believe is a homicidal maniac, Sister Megan. The whole thing had a dreamlike feel to it, and I guess that should have been a clue. Micaela Diamond breaking into 'I Don't Know How To Love Him' on the road trip to the firepit (wtf ?) was nothing short of sensational - I knew nothing of her Broadway background. I will watch episode 8 simply to see where Murphy goes from here, but that ep did my head in.

I hated the twist and can't see the series getting back on track in the 3 episodes that are left. Nothing that's happened, up to this point, matters anymore because it was all a dream. Considering they revealed this at the end of the 7th episode, with only 3 episodes left, I can't imagine where they plan to go with this now. I assumed this was the series finale until you said there were 3 episodes left. Overall, dream endings suck because they make everything we've seen completely irrelevant.

I am hoping there is a lot more to it than this to justify such a cliched twist. The "... and it was all a dream"/they were in a coma the whole time-trope was not what I ever expected to see and it was not a pleasant surprise. I hate how it felt like such a rip off after getting so invested in the storyline, although I guess it makes some of the outrageous and absurd behaviours of some characters (eg. Nurse Redd) seem less unusual if they belong in the context of Lois' subconscious. The POV scenes of the Priest and Nun without Lois around make less sense in this false reality though.

The quality of this story line can go either way from here, but it will be helpful if they continue to creatively tie in previous parts so the first half doesn’t seem pointless. OAN am I the only one who felt like the reveal of the killer in the apparent coma dream state was a bit anticlimactic? I mean his murders were so gruesome but the discovery was glanced over. Overall, I am enjoying this show.

Jesus, lord, save me from Ryan Murphy. We just spent 6 episodes watching a dream? What should have been done in one, perhaps two, episodes took SIX episodes. I call, FILLER GALORE, that's the true Grotesqueire here. That said, I knew something was up because so much of this show had a crazy, Alice In Wonderland, feel about it. But to think he, Murphy, would spend more than HALF of the shows running time in a dream is... well... gross. Episode one was brilliant. Raven Goodwin was born to be on the screen, and she is the perfect fit for this show. Niecy Nash was also perfect for her part. Sadly, as is often with the cast with anything Ryan Murphy touches, maintaining quality is always out of reach. He just can't seem to keep the balloon in the air, (you know what I mean). Alas, now that I have been pulled into this rabbit hole, I will buckle up and watch the last three episodes. Let's see how Murphy tries to save himself this time. Murphy always infects his fans with Shyamalan Syndrome; that's where people really hope for the best - but know they may get the worst. Haha. (You know it's true)

Is it possible to hate the story but love the performances. That's where I'm at now. I did not like the twists in Ep 7. The crazy thing is that I know it's exactly what's supposed to make the viewers go "Wow" but I found myself moaning in disappointment. But I do love most of the characters and maybe the last few episodes will bring me around. Right now, though, I feel cheated.

So disappointed. It’s not really a twist if everyone sees it coming after the first hour. Plus we are way past halfway through the season. This was 7 so only 3 left. I get everyone being excited for the actors in a show but come on now!! It could be Anthony Hopkins, Denzel Washington and cate blanchett but if the story is beyond ridiculous and trying to be unpredictable for unpredictables sake it’s still DUMB. Gotta start passing on Ryan Murphy going forward. After season 4 of AHS and the first two seasons of Horror Stories he’s given us a whole lot of bad tv.
