Ah the good old days, i grew up in the 80s and it was amazing. That decade was magic, the toys, tv shows and the films where all great. I look back at the 80s with such happy memories. A-team, knight rider, dukes of hazzard, street hawk, transformers, star wars, star trek, back to the future, karate kid, the list goes on and on. Great times..

It really was the greatest time to be a kid. These commercials punch me in the feels big-time. Trips with grandma to Kmart and Zayre's and going to the SW toy aisle (and it was spectacular!), leaving with at least a few figures and/or vehicle. Still collecting this stuff!!

Christmas 1980-1981, I got the millennium falcon, Slave one, Bespin cloud car, tauntaun and the Bespin playset along with all the figures from Empire Strikes back. I never got the AT AT or snowspeeder though.

I took apart a blue marker and dunked the ink cylinder into the water to make it dark blue. Of course when Han thawed his plastic face absorbed the ink. So my Han action figured had freezer burn. heh.

I had the darth vader carrier case. I think it held almost 24 figures. Then when return of the Jedi came out, the threepio gold carrier case came out. I had that too.

I'm a teenager now and my version of Kenner Star Wars is the Star Wars Vintage Collection line from 2011 but you gotta still love the original Star Wars toys by Kenner.

GrumpyProduct10 Boi Trust me, if your shit is only from 2011, it's NOT considered vintage. Anything that came out after the 80's is NOT vintage and is not worth of frozen Tauntaun shit. All my Star Wars collectible toys are originals from the early 80s and I also still have their original boxes and packaging to prove it.

Nothing wrong with technology.I'm all for it. However, what I am basically saying is that I am glad I got to experience life before technology took over completely(which is what has pretty much happened). As I said, I like all tech out there...just glad that I got to experience both ends of the spectrum. Kids these days will never get to experience what I did.

The only action figure I had from the Star Wars collection was a little Chewbacca head 12in Chewbacca that my great-grandmother got me cuz I was in the hospital. My mom didn't have much money she was a single mom and we were on welfare so we couldn't afford toys but I appreciate what my grandmother got me

That last commercial must've been pretty soon after ESB if it was still referring to "REVENGE of the Jedi"! (As SW fans know, that was to have been the title of Ep VI, but ended up being changed since Lucas decided revenge wasn't a Jedi thing.)

Ep. 6 was titled "Revenge of the Jedi" for a while, 1980-82. Promotional material was created and distributed about a year before the 1983 release. Interesting fact, 1982's Star Trek II was originally titled "The Vengeance of Khan." They changed the title so as not to create confusion with "Revenge of the Jedi."

Brings me back to the days when the neighbor girl and I played with my Star Wars figures outside. The scenarios in these commercials were much better than ours though. Ours usually ended with her running inside to tell her mom because I called her a bitch because she kept breaking the heads off of my figures. She was hell on those toys.

GI Joe items from Hasbro with their figures, vehicles, planes, ships and bases were far more fun to play with than some star wars items. Some were good like the walkers and some ships but overall GI Joe had more selection and better designed toys.

These commercials are a couple of years before my time, so the whole "you have to put it together" line sounded odd to my ears. I guess this was before they settled on "some assembly required". Which was probably more accurate anyway.

The Imperial attack base playset I considered incorrect. The Empire never had a "base" to attack from on Hoth. They just landed with their troops and walkers to overrun the rebels. This set looks more like the trenches of the Rebel "Echo" base instead. it made a good companion set to the sets with the turrent and "radar laser" cannon.
