What's your favourite interview on the Dick Cavett Show?
@JJONNYREPP Жыл бұрын
roucho talks about Irving Thalberg & Margaret Dumont. no, I ain't conceding defeat... just pointing out his nibs had a problem: his anecdotal evidence far more superior re: humour and mirth making than the films he starred in. I allus wanted to hear about that woman who never could comprehend why she was in those films...

There are so many it's hard to remember. Jack Benny was a favorite guest of mine. But Dick was so good with guests. He even managed to put George Harrison at ease.

Huge Dan Rowan fan. Little known how talented a dramatic actor he was. And what a class way to handle the Groucho situation here.

What a brilliant combination.

True, but I've also heard legendary combinations like "Smithereenies" and "Smitheroonies"; both by Yosemite Sam... If you meant everyone in this interview was a brilliant combination, I strongly agree!!!! (Groucho was a legend)

. It derives from, or is possibly the source of, the modern Irish 'smidirín', which means 'small fragments'. There is a town near Baltimore, close to the south-west coast of Ireland, called Skibbereen.

Dan Rowan and Dick Martin were the last great comedy team. Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In was one of the most original shows in the history of television. And funniest.
@djhrecordhound43912 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, there were Laugh-In albums and singles back in the day. "Rowan And Martin's Laugh-In" on Epic label (1968?), and "Laugh-In '69" on Reprise label. This one's crazier than the first, but imagine hearing that show mixed into stereo(?!!), right down to the slow clap at the very end ringing across the speakers... Not sure if a 2nd Reprise album came out, but I recall seeing a list with a few character/catchprase-themed song. I have only one of these oddball Reprise 45s, "Very Interesting" by Arte Johnson with Ruth Buzzi b/w "Don't Futz Around" by Ruth Buzzi with Arte Johnson. (That's how they're credited on each side.)

While this mutual admiration bromance is in full swing, I get the impression that the woman sitting next to Groucho is totally forgotten about !

@shackdaddy71062 жыл бұрын
@@jhassett2 That is incorrect. The woman on Groucho’s right is Erin Fleming. Erin Fleming took care of Groucho in the final years of his life. But she was never married to him. She was both very good and very bad for him.

I do have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rarities much like all the other Dick Cavett interviews
@okjoe55612 жыл бұрын
Did Cavett interview any of them? If he didn't, you may have the answer to why the clips aren't shown.
@Gannooch2 жыл бұрын
@@okjoe5561 he did. He interviewed Art carney and Jackie at least and Decades aired them.
