Ground beams in construction
Beams are structural elements that transfer loads imposed along their length to their end points where the loads are transferred to walls, columns, foundations, and so on.
Ground beams are beams that are designed to span between pad foundations, piles and so on, as an alternative to traditional foundations.
Ground beams are generally constructed from concrete, and for low-rise buildings are commonly constructed in situ, however, as this can be relatively time-consuming method, the use of precast concrete ground beams has increased.
The advantages of using ground beams are that they are quicker to install than conventional footings, and allow uncertainties regarding ground conditions to be overcome. They also create a very accurate bearing level, reducing the amount of levelling up that is required prior to starting to build up the superstructure.
Ground beams may be used to support brick work, block work and so on, but may also be used at the edge of in situ concrete floor slabs, where they form permanent shuttering. They tend to be square or rectangular in section, and can be designed to incorporate notches, end details and sloping faces.
Precast ground beams are cast to the required lengths in an off-site factory and are then lowered into place on site, typically spanning between the tops of piles. Small in situ concrete ‘stitches’ are used to connect and bolt the beams securely to each other and the piles. Secondary beams can also be connected to the ground beam system to form a beam and block ground floor.

Do you provide any type of foundation like footing or piles under concreat beam in this video or you apply concreat beam directly on ground without any type of piles or footing foundation under concreat beam..??

Brother this is factory with structural steel framing?Why not use footing with pedestal for anchor bolts and perimeter ground beams only the slab on grade at the last part of work.This is only my opinion ok love all the way from Philippines. Any comments I will answer back no problem and I want your opinion why you used this methods.

Hi bro , glad to hear from you yes , it is factory with steel structural framing the anchor bolts already inserted with my concrete beam if you can see clearly :) the concrete slab will be my last part of works steel structural will conducted by steel contractor. thankfully

The land at my site is very soft like butter if you can view my other video. We need construct the ground beam on top of foundation then only can cast the slab above my ground beam. It’s called suspended slab.

@@apertureofconstruction1739 Ok I wll ask you this method is structurally sound and economical if you provide footing with pedestal and only perimeter ground beam instead constructing a lot of beams.My opinions are techically as per any standards we have to provide foundation for each column and depth of foundation should be minimum of 80 centimeters to reach the hardest soil to have minimum requirement of soil bearing capacity as per structural analysis.

we follow the design of piling layout. we must construct the ground beam across the piling layout which designed and required by land owner to secure the loading of the structural. our depth of piling is 36meter from ground. my site very near to seaside. so the land is very soft like butter. you May view my other video regarding piling foundation works , then you know how soft is our land in here

Suspended slab is a slab after the oversite concrete… anything suspended above the ground is called suspended slab.
